I've been out shopping, and have a bunch of questions I'm hoping can be answered by some knowledgable forum member. I recently acquired a 12" called "Like An Old Time Melody" by Teresa. Released in 1979 on Dream Records, it was produced and written by Sandy Linzer. It has the same big band vibe as Dr. Buzzard and Cory Daye. I wasn't able to find a Teresa somebody on liner notes to those lp's, however. Any information on this woman? Was there an album? Was it any good?

Actually I don't know anything about the woman herself, but there's an album of hers floating around. It's called Class Reunion, from 1979, and there are seven tracks on it -- one of them being "Like An Old Time Melody". Produced by Sandy Linzer and arranged by Charlie Calello, it should be quite listenable stuff... As a matter of fact I think I'll try and find it somewhere. Btw, it's probably her only LP.

I appreciate the info, kari. When the Teresa record started playing, I have to say I almost took it off the turntable. When it became clear that her vocal stylings were aimed at that Big Band feel, I realized the connection to the Cory Daye stuff. I'm amazed at the reach of obscure disco records if you think you can obtain a copy of it in Finland!

TERESA: Class reunion (Dream records DA3502) was printed in 1979, produced by Sandy Linzer and arranged by Charlie Calello.

It is not an unforgettable album, but if you are into some weird disco sounds of the late 70's it will be a good pick. Not easy to find today but not so in demand. By the way, Dream was a sublabel of Salsoul and this is another reason to get it.

That Jussi, he's such a troublemaker

Next time I mail him some CDs I'll make sure they are blank so he thinks his hi-fi is acting up!.
