    Asha Puthli The Whip

Hi! Everybody: I like Asha Puthli since I heard the song: I'm gonna Dance from the album L'indiana of the label T.K. Disco 1979. Since then her 5th album 1001 Nights of Love 1980 only she record two disco songs Lay a little of Love and 1001 Nights of Love (reprise). Here is my question: Asha Puthli record this disco song: The Whip (you can found a video of this song on youtube and also you can download on Amazon.com mp3) from the soundtrack Squadra Antigangster 1979. But I found that Disconet has this artist Asha with this song The Whip remix by David Rodriguez on Volume 3 program 11 1980, so can someone tell me if is the same artist or not. Thank you Everybody.

    Asha Puthli - The Whip

can come in here since he discussed this track on his site but I do believe that Asha Putli = Asha since La Putli has released albums under the name Asha:

"Asha gives you "The Whip", mixed by David Rodriguez.

As France Joli was about to make her first appearance on Fire Island (with Ethel Merman expected to arrive on a barge) two summers ago, Asha and David Rodriguez were putting the final touches on a song that wouldn't see the light of day (or night) until this Disconet. Asha appeared on the Island with France, and Ethel never made it because she was touring in the south. Asha sang "The Whip" and people went wild. Since David's mix (like David) was atleast two years ahead of its time, it sounds fresh and wonderful to day. Asha wrote and produced "The Whip" with co-writer/co-producer Reiner Pietsch.

The tracks were recorded in Europe, with additional vocals and effects added at Boris Midney's Eras Studios in New York where David did the mix. While David is no relation to Rosita Rodriguez, he is alive and well in New York City waiting for the depression to end.

Asha has a new album out in Germany, and we'll look for her in the U.S. sometime in early 1981.

SPECIAL NOTE TO DJs: Bonus Side 2 runs 6:22 at 132 BPM (beats per minute.) Cueing bands should help you pick your spot for putting on ASHA your whip."

I'm, obviously, not the Stephen that VS is referring to, but I wanted to clarify that the pages on hotdiscomix.com are scans of the original description sheets that came in their respective issues of DiscoNet.
