    Radio 4 strikes again

For all you guys in the UK:

Tonight on Radio 4 (yes - Radio 4!!) at 9.30 pm, there is a programme called No Triumph No Tragedy, where Teddy Pendergrass talks about why he has decided to return to the stage ...

Did anybody else listen to a Radio 4 programme on The Archive Hour a few Saturdays back, when they made a documentary entitled The History Of The DJ?

    Radio 4 getting funky?? :-? :-?
If it moves - funk it!!

Teddy P High Brow? Radio 4 cannot be struggling for an identity, surely? This worries me deeply.

I read Teddy P's book 'Truly Blessed' last year & the desciption of his life following the car accident was one of THE most harrowing & upsetting things I've read in a while. He deserves all the support everyone can give him.

So, uh this may be an indelicate question Steely...

BUT, wut up wit da rumors that Teddy was getting a blowjob from a tranny when that car crash occurred???

    Urban Legend??? Or what????

I loved Teddy P., but, strangely, IMHO his music wasn't any good after that accident. It got so ultra-slow and mushy. I can't recall one track that was memorable after the accident. Previously, every LP had lots of excellent cuts that were never even released as singles.

    Am I off-base here?

Yes Marky, youre right about the stuff he did after the accident for Elektra being a bit naff. Its typical of Philly Int.records to not release good material as singles; I always got the impression that they didn't understand or appreciate the talent that was on their label at times. The Jones Girls should've been superstars IMO but were not marketed very well.
Teddy doesn't exactly deny that he was receiving a BJ from a TV at the time so it may not be urban legend at all, whereas the famous urban legend about Marc Almond was flatly denied in his autobiog.! (I'm not convinced)

Well, Marky, its a much-discussed topic in the UK about Mr.Soft Cell having to go to hospital to have his stomach pumped after an over-dose & the contents of his tum contained a large amount of, erm, how should I put it, a certain goo-ey substance that is very bitter & high in protein. Catch my drift?

I perfectly agree Marky, with one great exception being "JOY" from 1988.

    Hey,

what happened to the TV that was doin' a BJ on TP after the car accident? BTW, the car was a RR, the city was L.A. and TP was one of the greatest stars of TSOP.

Zeca, the TV probably got enough 'hush money' afterwards to get a full sex change & start a new life as a glamorous disco lady or super model!

Yep, Eddie's been stopped by the cops several times for "giving rides home" to Trannys on Santa Monica Blvd.!!!

The last time was about 5:00am on a weekend. He says he was out getting a newspaper and just happened upon a lovely young thing with a Adam's apple needing to get home. Good Samaritan that Eddie is, naturally he gave the "damsel in distress" a ride. The cops followed.

Seems the wife & chilluns were outta town that weekend. And Eddie was lonely in the Hollywood Hills...so he ventured down to the boulevard for..uh,... reading material at 5:00 am. "Uh-huh, Uh-huh, that's the way he likes it."

"Dude looks like a lady" indeed!!!!! :P

Wow, I'll look at Mr.Murphy in a whole new light now :o I always thought he looked comfortable in that skin-tight head to toe leather outfit in his stand-up days.
