    I'm so disgusted!

I was logged in. I typed a really long reply to the 1980s to 1983 disco list thread. I hit PREVIEW. The screen asked me to log in again. So I logged in again - hit the LOGIN button again and BAM! My entire reply DISAPPEARED! Damn it! It's lost in limbo somewhere. I'm sick of this happening. How do I really know I was logged in the first time? Well the tacky little thing at the bottom that says YOU CAN do this and YOU CAN do that said so!

    How F'ing and utterly annoying!!!!

    Lean,

This used to happen to me all the time when I tried to post from home. I eventually just stopped posting anything longer than a sentence, in case it would disappear. Sometimes it would take the message, sometimes it would say I wasn't logged in 5 times in a row--even though I obviously was logged in!!! How could I have typed the message, IF I WASN'T LOGGED IN???????? Believe me, I complained. :x

It's never happened from work, however.

    Hi Lean... Hi Marky...

I have had this problem as well in the past, funnily enough from work and not from home. Two suggestions:

    1. If you hit the "back" key it sometimes took me back to the original message. Than I copy/paste it after I had logged in again.

    2. If I felt particularly passionate about a topic and I would want to post a long one, I actually typed in "word" and than copy/paste it afterwards. That way you get the added benefit of a spell checker wich as a non-native English speaker is very useful as well!

Hope this helps (although it just shouldn't happen at all of course).

This used to happen to me a lot because I like to switch screens when I'm in the middle of something  . What I do now is if I see the little white box we type in getting kind of full, I simply highlight it and do 'EDIT'; 'COPY' or highlight and hit 'CTRL--> C'. That way, I can run all over the world, come back to this page (which by now is surely blank) and do 'EDIT; PASTE' or 'CTRL-->V'. A lot better thank cursing up a blue streak and then trying to remember all the b.s. I had written. :D

I'm just as pissed off as you are  ! Can you believe that I had to log-in four freakin times :x !!!!!!! Many times I've typed a nice message maybe ten sentences and more then the f**king screen tells me to log in. I left Bernie a message and he left some instructions to eliminate this problem but it didn't work. Lately, I don't bother to post anything I just read the threads :( .

It seems this problem could be resolved if only a "Log-in" option would appear when the "you are NOT logged in" message appears. I could never figure out why it wasn't configured that way.

I'm surprised to hear that others are now having this problem. This was driving me crazy when Bernie redesigned the site around last Oct./Nov. I had never experienced it before--only running out of time on a long post. I learned to type some, post it and then finish it with an edit. I only post from work now and it's never been a problem here.

I do long posts sometimes, and since some time ago I developed the habit of highlight my whole complete post, then hit the right button of the mouse over it and select "COPY". Then, if the system erases my message, I click on "PASTE" over the blank page. This last thing, let me tell you, I do with a big grin on my face. :D :D :D
    It's not so complex!
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)

Thats one of the downsides to using a phpbb board When you start adding a post the board sort of forgets your there so the time runs out and your loged out so after creating your work of art you push the button and instead of seeing your hard work you see the login screen.
Thats one of the reasons I no longer use this board for my forums at least mine auto logs me back in and the other thing I've noticed about this board is when I login I tick that box called remember me (or something like that) I then go for a holiday and come back but will it remember me.

But all that said and done I'll still be useing this board as It's a Nice place.

Just remember before pushing the button copy what you've done.
