Hey, is it this one?
Two Man Sound - Que Tal America
Okay, here's one from memory that may test everyone.
Every Friday and Saturday night a local radio station in Calgary Canada use to have a disco party night and play non-stop mixed disco. On several occasions I would tape the radio show onto cassette. I have on an old cassette from one of these nights of a group signing a song that I think was called "America". I'm going from an old distant memory. Its a fast paced song, very danceable, with male and female backing singers - the lead singer is male. The chorus repeats just the words America several times and then lead male singer and backing singers sing a line several times that sounds like "shoop, shoop, shoop, shoowah; shoop shoop shoop shohoo". Maybe circa 78 or 79.
I have don't have any other info. (I think I still have the tape of the recording but sadly its packed away in storage that's not easily accessible.) Does this ring a bell with anyone?
I know for sure that it isn't I Love America by Patrick Juvet and I think it was redone sometime in the early 90's by another group in a house music style. I know this is a longshot but any ideas?
