Good Luck, Com King.
Candy Staton turned to gospel music in 1982, and even though there have many rumours about her getting back to secular music, we are yet to see that happen.
Does Anyone have news from Candi Staton.
It's really important because I'd like to marry her.
I'm sure I'd be convincing
For me the greatest female voice of all times.
I\'m a Victim ( of th very Song I sing )

I have enormous difficulties to control my tears tdaram.
Candi is born to be n°1
But I think if she's third in your top 10 you must be a great fan.
years ago I saw Candi Staton on a late Sunday night gospel music program. She was speaking VERY candidly about having conquered a bad drug habit, and she then did a gospel song with just piano accompaniment. She sounded great (I remember I used to sometimes confuse her with Stephanie Mills). "Run to Me" is still very high up on my list of disco favorites. I really, really wish she, Stepanie, Debbie Jacobs, Linda Clifford, Carol Douglas, Thelma Houston and all the other great singers would get together and do a show. If I don't hear some good live music sometime soon I'll scream.
Hey all; and great reply skinflint; the beautiful and talented Candi Staton can still be seen and heard. If you don't get offended, and your cable provider tunes in to TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network), which is a gospel TV Network, you can see and hear Candi performing; but not disco or any other type of secular music, only gospel because she is a born again blood washed Godly Christian (don't let this turn you off the woman can still out sing anybody).
Anyhoo, "Young Hearts Run Free" was one of my favorites and came out, I believe in 1976. The song itself was so "carefree" and at the time I was young and it seemed to apply to me. Now that I'm much older, I can still hear the song in my brain which takes me back to a much innocent, carefree time in the world.
Another of my favorites from Ms. Staton was a song called "Victim."
What great songs and a great artist.

Candi Staton has recorded secular music since making the switch to gospel in the early 80's. She not only rerecorded "You've Got The Love", which was a top 10 hit in the UK in both the 80's and the 90's (different mixes) but in 2000 she made the return to dance music.
An incredible CD called "Outside In" on which she re-recorded "Young Hearts Run Free", a great updated version (although nothing will beat the original). She also recorded songs written especially for her by Boy George and Billie Ray Martin. Unfortunately, it's out of print but definitely worth seeking out. The title song, she wrote herself and it's absolutely haunting. The version of "You've Got The Love" from this album was featured in the final episode of "Sex In the City."
Last year, she released "His Hands". Although there is no dance music on this album it certainly is one of her most poignant. This is real, honest, stripped-down southern soul. And, arguably, Candi at her most vulnerable.
If you go to Baltimore in November, you'll get to see and hear Linda Clifford, Debbie Jacobs and Marth Wash perform together at an AIDS benefit. Not sure of the details but if you go to Linda's web site or My Space page, I'm sure they'll be posted eventually.

I am sitting here with tears of joy streaming down my face as I was watching Linda's performances at the SF Gay Pride celebration. I have forgotten what it was like to be gay in the last parts of the 1900's. I just can't hang with the newer music, and these tracks have brought me back to a time and place and people who are long forgotten. I really don't care for where we are in this time and place, and these vocal tracks brought me back to an earlier time when things were new for me, and a time when music was something I was interested in.
God bless you for the link.
