Yes. Canadian copies have the 12" version instead of the 7", even though they have the same catalog # as the US LP.
Was there ever an issue of the Skatt Bros "Strange Spirits" LP with the 12" version of "Walk The Night" on it? As far as i've always known the 12" was it for that and its 3 mins and some on the LP. Can anyone verify that there was a release of the LP with the 5:24 version?

Am I the only one who was kinda disappointed by the extended version of "Walk the Night"? I love the song...BUT that jazzy "da-dit-dit-dit" **** on the extended version, seemed tacked on and did NOT serve the dark ominous nature of the original version, IMHO.
I only had the short LP version until the Casablanca boxed set came out with the long version. To me, it felt like a strange and not very successful attempt to lengthen the song to a suitable 12" time.
Trocadero played the hell out of this track....but I don't recall that jazzy ending...was there another remix on Hot Tracks or Disconet that might have been played?
Or is my mind playing tricks on me????

I just wanted to add to the list for "Walk the night". I always loved this song too. I had the Skatt bros. album which I've lost over the years. :( I still have the Casablanca box set version, but I just wanted to say that I found another version on CD, a 12' single, by a group called BENT BOYS. It sounds just about the same as Skatt Bros. with a few more evil laughs. It's really good. It runs 6:49. Also on the cd are "Beat the clock" 6:34, "Relax" 6:30
and "Black skin blue eyed boys" at 5:47 all songs are really good. Check it out. The cd is put out by UNIDISC.![]()
\"Dancing the night away\", forever!!!
Don\'t give up the dance.
Well,
The 12" version of "Walk The Night" is all I ever heard. Never heard the short one. Perhaps Marky, the "ditty doi do" thinie at the end was mixed out before it came? I dont know lol. I know one of Bobby's spins I have from 06/80 has that in it and he mixes out of it before that part. But thanx for the info and now I know I can look for the Canadian LP or the 12".

This track was also released on a Casablanca Danceclassics
album released in 1986.
It has the 5:22 version on it,with the skatt break, witch i
think is very nice once you get used to it.
There are some other nice tracks on this album like Cameo,Parliament and Brenda and the turbulations.
Ciao John,
DJ Jimmy,
Yeah, I think that Bobby V. probably always mixed out before that jazzy "scat" ending. Troc played this ALL THE TIME...but when I heard end part of the version on the Casablanca box set...I was like "where did that come from?". So Bobby probably used 2 copies to extend it and bypassed the actual ending. That's my hunch.

While on the subject of the Skatt Bros., JOL informed me that the bar where the cover was shot is now a fairly well-known synth/music software store called Saved By Technology. I've bought tons of stuff from them, but I always wondered why a store like that was located off a back alley, right in the middle of "Boystown"...
