Bugger groove? Taken from a dying mixtape I made circa 1986. Please ID this before the tape is completely dead!!

I don't know if this will help, but there was a rap group called Whistle who had a rap hit called Just Buggin'. It has the same gimmick sound as your clip. This might be a good lead.

Ok! Thanks for the help, Needlefingers. I got the answer through a little more searching. The track is "Bugger Groove", by...the Buggers (what else!) Produced by Jose Animal Diaz & Carlos De Jesus, and released in 1984 on Manhole (!!!) Records. There was apparently also a Disconet remix.

Follow-up: I found a mint copy on eBay last evening, from a guy in my neighborhood, and arranged to pick it up right away. WOW! It could be partly because of a long-term (20 years) fantasy of finding the track, but I really find it amazing, especially the longer version!! I'll try to post it in the vault pretty soon.
