    Comparing the MacArthur Parks

    *****

Here is the Meco version of MACARTHUR PARK as released in 1977:

Now after listening still again .... (at the 3:39 minute mark) I would be very surprised to learn that Giorgio had never heard this before coming up with :

I know Stephen Freeman , last this was discussed, you weren't quite as convinced and I will grant you that as you pointed out both are structured closely in accordance with parts (around the five minute mark) of the original performed by Richard Harris:

I don't know ... Meco / Giorgio ... those horns ....that final horn blast note ... so similar .... :icon_confused:

Thoughts and impressions ??? :icon_mrgreen: All input always welcomed ...:icon_mrgreen:

Actually, that horn section at the 3:39 mark of the MECO version (part 2, on YouTube) is the part of the arrangement I was referring to in our earlier discussions. That horn riff was the most significant hook in the original arrangement, for the Richard Harris recording.

I don't know how to paste images and clips into messages, nor store Mp3 or Quicktime clips on other sites, (I'll admit, I'm an anolog guy, in a digital world.:icon_redface:) and I don't see a vid-clip of the Richard Harris version showing-up in my Google search. Otherwise, I'd clip the horn section from it and link it.

Remicks, which Meco album is this version of MacArthur Park on? I really like this version which is very similar to Donna's version.
