"Everybody Salsa" VS. "Can You Move"

Why was the Modern Romance record "Everybody Salsa" in Europe, but released as "Can You Move" in the U.S.?

I've always noticed the Europeans refer to the record as "ES", while the Billboard charts and my copy on Atlantic title it CYM"?

    Just curious.

    Marky,
I was told back then by the guys at "Disco import USA" in Antwerpen that this was just a marketing issue because people wouldn't
buy "everybody salsa" in the US because of the corny title, so it was re-printed as "Can you move".
They told me this the same week i got home with the "new" Modern Romance import only to find out it was the same as the one i already had..
The best things in life are free :-)

Bit of ineresting (or not!) trivia for y'all. The original singer of Modern Romance, Geoff Deane, was the writer of Divine's 'You Think You're a Man'.

Marky: Did any of their records do any damage in the US? They were incredibly popular in the UK. Very much a non discogoers fave band, the gals on the hen nights would dance all night around their handbags, to them.

I thought the much better 'remix' was 'Can you move" this was the most popular version for me, the original was extremely cheesy.

"Can you move " - This tune was hot in the early 81 & 82 the horn section was the saving grace , the beat was cheezy , but passed the smell test !!
