Yeah, tell me about it. I actually scored a copy of the 12" on Ebay,thinking I was smart and lucky. I paid around $20. But when I received it, it turned out to be a Canadian pressing from 1977! :( And the sound quality wasn't all that great either, so I'm looking forward to the CD release.Originally Written by ashley
I didn't look at the track listing of the CD - will it include any Four Seasons stuff from the same era? I'm thinking of the long version 45-only mix of 'Who Loves You'.
Edit: I just realized, I hope they put the entire version of Swearin to God. The LP mix actually fades out about 20 sec before the 12" version. The 12" has the cold ending.

I presume this is simply a CD issue of his 1975 LP Close-up, which includes the excellent "Swearin' to God"? Therefore, I assume it is likely to be the LP version, unless they are feeling generous and decide to include the 12" version as a bonus track.

Yes, hopefully they will just put on the full take onto the CD. As far as I can tell, the 12" and LP mixes are exactly the same, in terms of the placing of the elements in the mix. The only difference is the 12" keeps on going. It wouldn't be difficult if they just let the track run onto the cold ending, but that's only if the people doing the reissue know their stuff!

I checked AMG and they time "Swearin' To God" at 10:35 on this cd.
The original LP was 10:09 and the 12" in Bernie's vault is 10:32...SO it appears that this is the 12" version + 3 seconds!

The Plus 3 seconds is the silence between CD tracks. The timing is 10:32 which matches the original.

10:35 is accurate. That's what it reads when I put the CD into my Media Player. I haven't listened to the ending of the 12" I bought a while ago (I can't dig it out), but I do recall from the Napster days that the 12" version I downloaded slowly faded out towards the end of the take (all the instruments stop, the vocals end on a long 'I love yoooooooooou') and then in fades out immediately. On the CD, there's an extra 10 seconds of the orchestral music playing, like a coda. But it seems to end abruptly in a fade out (i.e. it doesn't complete the 'thought'). Very nice to hear it in it's clean CD full-fledged glory.
