it's Venus Dodson's Night Rider.
but dude, if you can't tell a female singer from a male and you whine about the work it takes to rip and upload a music file in order to help people help you, you don't deserve to know.
i have a mixtape of tony vaughn recorded somewhere around the early to mid 90's from wbls in nyc (the "theme" of the broadcast was "taking you back to the disco era" so the songs/tracks were all classic disco moments...john davis orchestra / long train running etc.)
the quality of the tape is pretty poor unfortunately and it is also quite a bit of work for me to rip a digital audio sample.
seems to be mostly a male vocal with a female joining in on occasion. hopefully someone can recognize the artist-title from some of the lyrics i was able to pick out:
...creature of the night...
...captivate my mind...
...good times seem to follow you...
...our love is one of a kind...
...i know you'll never be mine...
chorus is difficult for me to pick out but seems to be saying "ooh ooh that fire". don't think the "fire" part is right but that's the closest i can get.
many thanks in advance.

WOW! THANK YOU THANK YOU! You have no idea how happy you have made me in your own somewhat cynical way. To be fair, I would probably react the same way as you. Consider my points below though. Seriously, I looked at the tape & it is from 1993. For 15 years the identity of the track has bothered me. I forget about it, pull out the tape & it bothers me all over again. This was a shot in the dark but the KNOWLEDGE is RIGHT HERE. Thank You so much Bernie for the site & sfbeary for the response. I have been deejaying in clubs since 1983 but I come here and feel humbled at the knowledge & experience in this forum.
1) As a working DJ of 25 years, I no longer listen to music "for pleasure" in the comfort of my home. Maybe some of you can relate. Thanks to Lexus/Toyota I do however have a tape deck in my vehicle (2001 - weird I know). Hence rediscovering & being annoyed by the identity of that song all over again. My tape deck is in my storage facility. I could of (and was prepared to) go get it, hook it up to my mixer, run that through an A/D converter into my laptop and then edit & upload the result. My "lazy shot in the dark" was to post up what I could make out from the lyrics before I made that trip.
2) After now hearing the full version and seeing the sleeve I can totally understand that you would be flabbergasted that anyone could even begin to think that it was a male vocal. If you could hear my tape though you might understand. For one the quality is terrible, recorded on one of those cheap radio/cassette recorders I believe. Secondly it honestly DOES sound like a male on my tape until "Good times seem to follow you". Could be the recording speed of the crappy cheap machine was off. Entirely possible.
Regardless, YOU SAVED MY DAY!!!
