I saw it not too long ago, but didn't buy it. I gave it a quick listen at the store, and it wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for, so I passed on it.
Recently bought a milk crate's worth of used Disco records. One that caught my eye was a single sided Casablanca 12" promo from 1980 by John & Arthur Simms. The song is entitled "That Thang of Yours" and sure enough it is a funk record. Biggest surprise is that it's produced by Alec Costandinos and arranged by Greg Mathieson!
I've never heard of the group or knew that Alec did such a project. The song is actually pretty good and is straight forward R & B / funk-no Romeo & Juliet here.
Does anyone know anything else about this?

Bernie,
I have two copies of this and never realized it was produced by Alec. I have to give it another listen and see just how funky he got. :)

WOW! I like it so much.
It was one of my horses of battle when djing. So funky!!
I also have the album of the Simms Bros.
Unfortunately it is not here with me so I can't give you more info
I never played this record at all and I saw it in my Casablanca bin a few months ago while looking for something else, I put it aside to listen but I forgot and it must be in storage now. I guess i'll check it out later.
Just wondering - were the 1975 Gloria Gaynor-type disco tracks by Demis Roussos that Alec produced ever spinned there in your neck of the woods?
Yes. As a matter of fact, I had a 12" of Demis (don't ask me what) that was 'borrowed' for a trip to California. The dj returned after his guest gig, my 12" didn't :x . I still have an lp but haven't touched it in many years.Originally Written by JussiK

I recently saw a disco LP by Demis Roussos & didn't pay it much attention as I'm not a fan of his other work. What is his disco stuff like? Is it any good? I love the Alec C.sound so I'm intrigued.
...ya gotta beat the street......
The 1975 album with the Costandinos tracks in it is for Alec completists only - it's a bit hard to believe there are those who just got to have every possible Demis Roussos record. The 2 disco cuts are okay but nothing special as such, they only last 3 mins each and the Greek version of Barry White sounds like a constipated Pavarotti. The Freddie Perren production from 1978 has the 8 minute version of "L.O.V.E Got A Hold Of Me". This is quite another story and has a strong dj following today due to it's appearance on one of the Disco Spectrum realeses. The full 10.02 12-incher is stronger still - put your money on that.
