Wow! I remember how that car (model & year) was popular with my friends' older brothers as a kid!! They'd have the chrome 5 spoke Cragar rims, gray primer, and they'd be lowered until the chrome bumpers were all scratched underneath from dragging on the asphalt. They're classics up to today...

And the way this car is advertised here is cool. Looks like a pre-MTV clip!

    Fascinating ad!!:icon_biggrin:

But I thought the commercial seemed sort of shady ... ghost rider in the night ... No romantic drive along the coast on a winding road on a sunny day sappy kind of stuff for this one !!

Who are they trying to sell to ??
drug dealers?? pimps?? drive by shooters ???? :icon_eek::icon_mrgreen::icon_razz:

...Exactly those who ended up riding them from the mid-'70s!!!!!

In my memory, you either saw these in pristine condition from new, driven by nice little grannies on their way to church, OR beat-up, covered in gray primer, and lowered to the max, ridden by tattooed-up cholos wearing gray Dickies pants, white tank-tops worn over a white T, black Ray-Bans, and hairnets keeping their combed-back hair in place, to somewhere maybe a little more dubious, as they drank from brown paper bags...
