We all have a song or 2 that's like Dancefloor Crack..
Myself, even if I dont feel like dancing if I hear "Shake Your Pants" by Cameo..or Hot Shot by Karen Young..I have to hit the dance floor..
what's your dance floor addiction?
'running away' and 'don't stop the feeling' by roy ayers always make me reach for my boogie shoes. dayna - you feel these too?
Oh boy-you have to understand that hearing the dishwasher makes me
dance, but I'll try to narrow it down....
pre disco would be "Think" by Lyn Collins and "I Can Understand it" by
New Birth, disco would be my fave "Free Man" and the O'Jays "I Love
Music" post disco would be "Holiday" Madonna!
Thom
My top Three:
I Got the Next Dance- Deniece Williams
Dance With You- Carrie Lucas
Harmony- Suzi Lane
DANCE!!-To the BOOGIE WONDERLAND........
.. thanks Dayna .. I've never heard of Cameo "Shake your pants" .. but if it's your very favourite dance record, alongside Karen Young "Hot shot", it must be incredible ..
:icon_cool:
.. so I've just been on Amazon & purchased the Cameo "twelve inch & more" CD compilation .. thanks for the recommendation
12" Collection & More: Cameo: Music

OMG Girl.......You will LOVE IT..It's sheer FUNK..it's that bouncy makes a girl jiggle in all the right place's kinda jam..for me the intro would make a corpse get up and dance..
and Hot shot is so different with it's cha cha latin Disco vibe..we used to call it the ultimate cha cha queen song
(Cha cha queen)=feminine person that was a fashion plate and could really move their hips and had that latin footwork..

'Sixty Thrills a Minute' by Mystic Merlin & 'It Doesn't Only Happen At Night' by Cissy Houston.![]()
...ya gotta beat the street......
Without a doubt i'll dance anytime, anywhere, to the following:
Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel-Tavares
Makin It-David Naughton
Dance Yourself Dizzy-Liquid Gold
A Little Lovin-Raes
Best of my Love- Emotions
Love's Unkind- Donna Summer
...and So many more...
I like my "Dancefloor Crack"(btw, Great description Dayna!!) sweet and bouncy!!
we can fly...above the sky...
For me it's:
"And The Beat Goes On" - Whispers
"Everybody Dance" - Chic
"Your Love" - Lime
and before anyone even heard of Napolean Dynamite:
"Canned Heat" - Jamiroquai
I don't think we have enough space on the forum to list all of the one's I'd name, but I'll narrow it down to one or two...
You Make Me Feel Mighty Real by Sylvester
You're My Heart, You're My Soul by Modern Talking
Harmony by Suzi Lane
Earth Can Be Just Like Heaven/I Got The Feeling by The Two Tons of Fun
so many to choose from, but I'd always dance to:
GIVE IT TO ME BABY - Rick James
(EVERY TIME I TURN AROUND) BACK IN LOVE AGAIN - L.T.D
MORE, MORE, MORE - Andrea True Connection
MUSIC IS MY WAY OF LIFE - Patti LaBelle
YOU CAN DO IT - Al Hudson & The Partners (featuring the unforgettable soulful wail of Alicia Myers!)![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Must be a kazillion I'd always have a bop to, or at least shake my booty at.
Dayna: Shake Your Pants...Yep...a stone cold WINNER!
Marky: Rick James, LTD, Al Hudson (I played One Way - Mr. Groove tonight over a loud Disco system...and it sounded oh so sweet YouTube - One Way feat Al Hudson - Mr Groove ....I'm in heaven, already.
The track that has me all excited at the moment (after a long break from it) is:-
Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina. I play that and my butt can't help uncontrollably gyratin'.
YouTube - Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina
So many, so many, but a few that come to mind:
"Lovin' is Really My Game" - Brainstorm
"Lady, Lady, Lady" - Boogie Man Orchestra
"Once You Hit the Road" - Dionne Warwick
"Down, Down, Down" - Sylvester
"Mighty High" - Mighty Clouds of Joy
I guess I'm addicted to any 70s-90s dancing song, if I bump into the right mix or remix.
A few examples:
Moon Maiden or Catch Me On The Rebound, mixed with love by Walter Gibbons.
Larry Levan's Don't Make Me Wait or Double Cross.
Call Me by Blondie. The version found in the "Once More Into The Bleach" album is like cocaine to me (with only good secondary effects).
And all the early classical songs of the House Sound of Chicago.
When I share songs like these with very young people, they are pleasantly surprised to learn it's old music. But the BPM are too low for them!

Like most of us, I too have several, but if I must(and I will for the purpose of this exercise) choose 2, they are:
Loving is Really My Game - Brainstorm - Truly enjoyed and still do dancing to this because it was busy and gave one the ability to travel on the dancefloor. Additionally, it provided a break towards the end which created a sense of euphoria:icon_lol: for the finale. I held court to this song @Xenon.
Running Away - Roy Ayers - very skippy and again provided the ability to travel with attitude. Onced danced w/Louise Ciccone @Danceteria-only to later realize whom she was in the pre-Fab Madge days.
Like everybody else, I got a million of 'em,
But I'll take the 1st four off the top of my head
Hit & Run - Loleatta Holloway
Dancin' - Grey & Hanks
Caught up in a One Night Love Affair - Inner Life
Pick Me Up I'll Dance - Melba Moore
....and in my case, these definitely keep me on the floor at the Roller Rink!:icon_biggrin:
Q.D. Earl
Unlimited Music Merchants
Q.D. Earl on Stickam
Q.D. Earl on Mixcrate
"The Problem is....Choice."
A few more that draw me to the floor like a moth to a flame........
Dont Wanna Lose Your Love-The Emotions
Crash Goes Love- .LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY
Got To Have Lovin-Don Ray
He's The Greatest Dancer-Sister Sledge
I'm Ready-Kano
The Pleasure Principle-Janet Jackson
Love Injection-Trussell
I Like You-Phyllis Nelson
A Night To Remember-Shalamar
Mmmm... I'm swayin', just thinkin' 'bout it!
Souveniers
I've Found Love...
I Should Be So Lucky
Hit 'N Run Lover
Nice and Slow (Jesse Green)
I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walkin'
My Sweet Summer Suite
Ya know... The list could just go on and on and on and on...
What a happy thought. Thanks Dayna! xoxo

I'll NEVER understand why You Got The Power wasn't a MUCH BIGGER record than it was. It's got the kinda groove that I find totally infectious. I'd challenge anyone to hear it and NOT wanna move 'n' shake.
