.. wow, this project is gonna cost you a fortune .. wouldn't it be easier & far far cheaper just to burn your vast collection on to CD? I appreciate some vinyl can become damaged after 30 years of play .. why not just replace the most scratched items? You have obviously paid good money for your big vinyl collection .. why pay twice?

I'm fairly sure that CDs will be the last physical method of music storage (unless you count USB sticks, DVDs, Blu-Ray disks). The future is digital, and it's obviously easy to rip CDs into a digital format.

Therefore, either rip the vinyl, or in necessary cases, buy a download. It would be good to be able to download anything from mp3 sites; certainly the vast majority of the tracks above will not be available on legal download yet. I wonder if they ever will be?

Well yes and no..I already sold all the vinyl on eBay. It was a serious collection and I made around £10,000 so I got the money.
I already ripped and burned stuff I couldn't get on cd at the time.
Obviosuly after 30+ years the quality isn't as good as I'd like it.
I've bought many many cd's already and the list I posted are some of the tracks I've yet to find on CD.
I know the future is digital but I like having a physical product.

So back to my original question..

Are any of these tracks available on CD?

    Thanks

The funky collector series irritate me. There seems to be many pointless edits in this series. The version of Keep On Movin' is an edit. I'll check out the Happy Hour/Motion Cd cheers

    Gwen Guthrie - Hopscotch 7:48

The Jap Padlock CD has Larry Levan’s Hopscotch vocal version at 8:13 and the Remix Instrumental at 7.26.

Sound quality is very good although it’s been mastered from vinyl.

.. oddly each of the different Amazon sites operate independently from each other .. I find it very frustrating .. CDs in the USA are often much cheaper than in Europe .. especially when buying from independent Amazon sellers .. but the US site won't recognise European Maestro debit cards .. and you can't even get near the Japanese or Chinese sites without a specially prgrammed keypad (and a working knowledge of japanese or mandarin) .. the Lew Kirton CD doesn't seem to be available on the US site .. but you can get the Gwen Guthrie disc at half the cost from US sellers ..

.. and sorry, I made a mistake .. the Al Wilson track "Earthquake" featured on the CD compilation "Roadshow Classics" is indeed the 3 minute mix .. sorry .. :icon_redface:
.. most of the other tunes are long versions however ..

HMV Japan's site is available in English. There are a few other Japanese sellers available through GEMM as well. It's certainly possible to use an English keyboard to type other languages, it's just a major pain typing Unicode.

Anyway, I was unaware of any disco releases coming out of Hong Kong/Taiwan/PRC/Singapore, so I don't see why anyone interested in these would require fluency in any Chinese language.

I regularly take advantage of the cheaper Amazon US prices (especially with the US dollar being what it is against the British Pound, sure do get some bargains!!). I use a bog standard Visa Debit card.
