Hey all,
I just wanted to share my recent discovery, thanks to YouTube.com. I thought I had heard every good Disco song out there and then while browsing the YouTube links, I came upon a group called Delegation which blew me away. Check them out -- crank up your sound:

Enjoy!

I luuuuuvvvv it! The song is Heartache No. 9.
I found some info about them.
Disco Savvy: The Complete Disco Guide to Delegation - disco and funk
Thanks for the hook-up.
Heartache No.9 appears on their 1980 eponymous album (Mercury records).
These guys are pros and offer meticulous productions
If you like Delegation also try the other tracks from the Youtube medley: You and I and Put A Little Love On Me, some of their titles that made the charts and are as good as Heartache No.9.
Coincidently, Delegation is on my incoming pile of analog to digital transfers....:icon_cool:

Hi,
Here is a non-80's, non-remix, original Delegation track.
YouTube - Disco Music: Delegation - Heartache No. 9
I reckon most 80's remixes ruin the originals.
Cheers,
Tim Tam
I was introduced to Delegation a few years ago when a local station was playing some great 70's soul/disco (that station has since gone off the air and was replaced by a country station...unbelievable). At any rate, I kept hearing the ending of "Oh Honey" and I had no idea who it was. The song was great and I loved it but because I kept catching the end of the song I never heard who the artist was (the DJ evidently only named them at the beginning of the song).
I asked a couple of folks at work that I thought my know the tune but they didn't. I finally just called the radio station, told them a few of the lyrics and the guy laughed at me. Said a lot of folks were calling to find out who that was! So, I discover it's Delegation and immediately go out and buy their "Best Of" CD. But it doesn't have "Heartache #9." Didn't know about that song until I heard it played on a now-defunct internet Disco radio station. Heard that one and it blew my mind! I became an even bigger Delegation fan!
And, now, I can say I've seen their video! THANKS!!!
Delegation's "Heartache Number 9" also appears on the Joey Negro / Dave Lee compilation "Disco Spectrum 3". :icon_cool:

i've got a pair of vynils, one is a great LP and the other an 80s 12' (too 80s for me) .......but it was some months ago that i got that song thanks to another spanish disco folk and BLEW MY MIND TOO!!! really good track (got to play it now!) good to know i got some material by them.
is that Heartache nş9 from their LP "Eau de vie"?
Yes ist is. BTW, the album has also been issued on CD.
I just got that Japanese import (Eau de Vie) and "Welcome to my world" is a great, standout ballad that displays their harmonies and owes a debt to the early 70's "sweet soul sound". "Oh honey" is a groove oriented ballad reminiscent of the Floaters but sounds like it could fit on this set but was recorded around 1978.
Have a few Delegation sets myself including their 1976 LP which I believe was the first one. Surprisingly it wasn't very disco oriented. Eu De Vie is a good album too although way more 80s/post-disco sounding.
Good moment in british music history for sure.
Eau de Vie is a great album.
Their first album "Promise of love" 1977 is also great but it's more Soul/Pop than disco.
From the 80's my favourite Delegation tracks are "In the night" 1981 and "It's Your Turn" 1983
I discovered them 1978....
oh this is a mighty good disco tune Heartache No 9
also just as good are "Put a little Love on me", and probably my favorite "You and I", great disco tunes
I think they were produced by same producers as The Real Thing :icon_mrgreen:
Ken Gold and Mick Denne (sorry about the spelling) produced Real Thing, Ritz and a few other gems and are responsible for their production and songs...I believe they also wrote "You To Me Are Everything" and were a fantastic UK based writing team..
"You and I" and "Put A Little Love On Me" were huge clubhits in the Netherlands during 1979/1980.
I got both on 12 inch, I even got a red, shine tru promo 12 inch of "You and I ".
DISCO...that's where the happy people go....!!!
