I've been looking for a copy of Needa's 'Come On & Rock' from '79 & I notice there's a copy for sale on GEMM for $2300!!!I know vinyl's getting more expensive but this is ridiculous. I would expect it to be made out of solid gold with diamonds on the jacket to justify this price!

.. the original vinyl release is very rare .. and has now attained legendary status in Europe .. I recommend you purchase the CD compilation "Baia Degli Angeli 1977 - 1978" .. it contains the Needa track plus lots of other superb rare 70's euro-disco .. you won't be disappointed ..
Amazon.co.uk: Baia Degli Angeli 1977-1978: Music: Daniele Baldelli
Amazon.com: Baia Degli Angeli 1977-1978, Vol. 2: Music: Daniele Baldelli

Re: "Baia Degli Angeli 1977 - 1978" .. I think there may be a mistake on the UK Amazon link above .. it's volume 1 that contains "Come on & rock" by Needa ( the US Amazon site have got it right ) .. the UK Amazon site shows a picture of (the dark) vol 2, but gives a corresponding track-listing for volume 1 .. :icon_confused: .. isn't life complicated? .. .. .. You can hear audio samples of both compilations on the Juno site:
Daniele BALDELLI/VARIOUS - Baia Degli Angeli 1977-1978 (The Legendary Italian Discotheque Of The 70's) Vol 1 MP3
Daniele BALDELLI/VARIOUS - Baia Degli Angeli 1977-1978 (The Legendary Italian Discotheque Of The 70's) Vol 2 MP3
Thanks alot ashley. I'd never come across that CD b4. You're a pal.![]()

Oh wow, I've just noticed that the other volume contains Gaz's 'Sing Sing' that I was talking about in another thread; I'm gonna have to get both volumes now. That Italian disco is one I would've loved to have visited (although I was only 12 at the time!
)

There is a copy of it on the discogs.com website for $2000 if you don't mind paying $300 less than at Gemm. Hahaha!
It's not a mistake:icon_biggrin:...that's the second issue on Leo Mini...the original issue on Sunshower is much more expensive...:icon_mrgreen:

One of these just arrived & it is beautifully packaged (typically Italian!) with lots of info about this fabulous-looking outdoor glamorous disco & the tracks are brilliant & not the usual tracks chosen for compilations, but it's mixed as I think it captures a night at this disco (a la 'Larry Levan live at the Paradise Garage' CD comp or 'Remember The Party' CDs) & although it's well-mixed this means that the tracks last for about 3 minutes & then go into the next track which is a shame. It would've been nice to have 2 discs where one is mixed & the other is unmixed (a la 'Disco Forever' by Dimitri from Paris). That's my only quibble though; it is an impressive CD.Baia Degli Angeli sounds like one of those glamorous Euro disco clubs that someone like Jussi K would have visited in the late 70s!

.. sorry, Sandra .. I should have known you would want the full length extended 6 minute 12" mix .. I know you love 70s euro-disco, which is why I recomended the Baia Degli compilation .. if you want the full length 12" version in an un-mixed CD format, get yourself the Joey Negro double CD "Supa Funka Nova" (it's a compilation of early classic funk/boogie tunes) .. listen to the sound-clips on the Juno site before you buy:
Joey NEGRO/SEAN P/VARIOUS - Supafunkanova - Badass Funk Classics From The Disco Boogie Era MP3
.. and it's available to purchase on Amazon (as usual, UK Amazon have got it wrong & failed to list the track on their page listing .. but Needa "Come on & rock" really is there on disc 1 .. )
Amazon.co.uk: Supafunkanova: Compiled By Joey Negro and Sean P: Joey Negro: Music
.. US Amazon have correctly listed the track ..
Amazon.com: Supa Funka Nova: Various Artists: Music

Oh oh, I have been in the "Bay Of Angels", twice when I was visiting my family BITD!! COOL CLUB!
It was THE Italian Disco, the European equivalent of "54" and "The Garage". It was the residence of the legendary Dj Daniele Baldelli!!!
A great article - the Baia must have been an absolutely fantastic place, another reason to believe the REAL history of disco has yet to be written. Videoscooter, you should contact the writer of that piece and coax him to get to work as soon as possible!
