Happy 80th Birthday to Vincent Montana!
Who would have thought that Vince Montana Jr. is now 80 years old?! I saw him at his home last year and he didn't look it and was still vibrant and in the studio living it up.
Happy birthday Vince... and may you have many, many more. Thank you for all the great music you have given us.

.. Vince Montana is a genuine legend .. he created & developed disco's smooth orchestral sound whilst working at Sigma studios in Philadelphia in the early 70s .. his orchestral arrangements on the Fantastic Johnny C "Waiting for the rain" make this probably the first true recognisable disco record .. even today this amazing man produces superb dance music .. his recent productions for the Philly Sound Works label are unmissable .. sounding like the Salsoul Orchestra high on house .. hunt down these new recordings .. they are wonderful & will only gain in value .. truly amazing .. thank you & happy birthday Vince Montana .. you & your work will live forever .. in this respect, you are immortal ..

Oh yeah, I forgot about that thread I had started months ago about 'something about this Vince Montana project' and how the Brown Sugar 45 was so unusual in its form versus other disco/dance tracks at the time it was released. I guess it'll remain unanswered! :)

.. what Quinny means, I think, is that "Heavy Vibes" was just one of Montana's many glorious tunes that came to define disco music & became the soundtrack to our lives .. we all have our individual favourites .. I myself always keep a copy of "Salsoul Rainbow" near the turntable .. it's the best tonic in the universe .. when that record plays, a damp day in England feels like a sunny summer in Manhattan .. it would take all weekend to list every classic Montana production .. I wouldn't know where to start .. Vince Montana gave us the Salsoul Orchestra & MFSB .. he has left his mark on the world forever ..
