CD Duplication Vs CD replication?

Hi,
I am a musician and I with my band have recently recorded a demo and we want to get a professional package together to send to the usual potential clients. . We plan to publish around 1000 CDs with the relevant details (Band Name, Song Titles and Contact Details) printed on the CD. But we are very much confused that what we should have to use CD duplication or CD replication. If anyone of you have any ideal about this and its provider then please help me.

If it's something to be used for demo purposes only, then go for duplication. If it's something that you want to have a longer 'shelf life' go for replication.

CD-Rs are likely to end up as frisbees far more quickly than pressed CDs.

In the USA there should be a wide choice of both CD duplicators and replicators, or agents fulfulling both.

You should always try to use replication service unless you don't have enough time or if your quantity is small. In such case you can use duplication. The artwork for duplication service is usually printed on a paper label and then the label is stuck onto the disc surface. This is labor intensive task and that's why duplication service, despite the lower quality, is more expensive then replication service in terms of unit prices.

Hi Tom, I would never suggest you to go for duplication over replication. Duplication is convenient for personal use and for small number of copies. When we need higher degree of reliability and quality you must undoubtedly opt for replication. You will require a professional approach for this as you will be presenting the CD’s to your clients.
