I don't know how rare it is. It's a CD that was pressed back in '88, if I recall correctly. Most of the tunes on it are readily available on most other compilations. But at the time, it had a great collection of disco tunes. It was released before the disco revival of the early 90s, so I don't know if it sold well in its day.

This 1st RCA comp is excellent-with great liner notes. But
avoid at all costs the 2nd volume where they botched the
whole thing-LP and 45 versions are used instead of 12 mixes(my biggest complaint was the LP mix of Faith Hope and Charity's "Life Goes On"-still unavailable on
CD along with "You're My Piece Of Mind")

Did they put the 45 mix of Life Goes On on the CD? They were actually different from the LP version (a different intro). There was a short and a long 45 mix on the same 7".

Edit: Nevermind, I found that there's a 6.02 of Life Goes On - Is that the 45 long mix? I decided to get it anyway because Stubborn Kind Of Fella by Buffalo Smoke/Lou Courtney is on it, and I looove that track!

Disco-The mix of "Life..." is the LP mix I believe-it has a slow instrumental intro. But you are in luck-the Buffalo
    is the 12" mix!

Yup, the slow beginning, and then cold intro into the fast part is definitely the LP mix.

I hope Stubborn Kind Of Fella is the original mix and not the David Todd remix. I prefer the original 12" mix because the drums sound harder and have more punch.

Funny within the past few months this comp came up on here..was just doin a search online to find info about it cause I knew I wasnt crazy and it did exsist! LOL I used to have this cassette back in the late 80s/very early 90s...however, on the CD thats listed, theres some differences..I remember on my cassette there was Daryl Hall & John Oats "I Cant Go For That" 12" mix as well as some 80s remix of "Native New Yorker'' called a brooklyn subway mix or some **** as the last tune on side 2...been years and the tape is long lost and gone from my collection.

Yup, that's the one. That remix is so terrible. There is so much RCA dance stuff they could have put on there instead of that awful remix. I guess because the original was on Vol.1, they thought it would be nifty to include a remix of it on Vol.2.

but no this had to have been vol.1 cause it had nearly the same track list and had both native new yorker versions on it..unless they crammed 2 vols on one cassette maybe?? i remember i had bought the tape to have clean copies of "pow wow" and "to each his own"..both of which my records were kinda soso at the time. and i never could find the cd, so had bought tape.

and yes..the odyssey remix was god awful from what i remember! (but wasnt most dance **** in the 80s? LOL)
