    A John McCain shortcoming

    *****

    Hey Paul

remember the "too short" tactic the Rush Limbaugh types used against Howard Dean when sizing him up for the presidency...

.... whether little Dean , when standing next to other world leaders, would imperiously "represent" the US of A ..... etc.

    Howard Dean

The man who we thought would be running for president but did extraordinarily badly in the primaries. Too liberal, too crazed, too short, too stocky, too uncharismatic. And who gives their height in quarter inches?

    "I'm 5'8". Almost 5'9". 5'8 3/4 to be exact." -Howard Dean

    urban dictionary

    How tall is John McCain?

    John McCain's Height :

    5'7"
    wikianswers

let's see how much that concerns them this time

Rush Limbaugh hates John McCain...the whole corporatist wing of the Republican party hates John McCain....they hoped for Giuliani, now may have to settle for Romney...but Romney outspent McCain something like 7 to 1 and still loses elections to him...so Rush may have to up his daily dosage of oxycontin to get him through the next few years. :icon_razz:

And gentlemen, your predictions? I guess Giuliani is out, Edwards is out, Huckabee is still in the race but....?

Democrats: clearly a battle between Clinton and Obama. Ted Kennedy supporting Obama, thus giving the message that the Democratic powers that be,don't really like the Clintons?

Republicans: McCain vs. Romney? And what about Ron Paul? Our media are pretty silent about him.

    Re: A John McCain shortcoming

Remicks, I'm still bitter about what happened to Dean in '04. :icon_evil: He was right on Iraq, right on health care, right on the economy and deficits, right on everything.
I still believe he would have won the Presidency had the dems avoided Iowa and NH as first primaries/caucuses and went right to CA. We are the biggest state after all. Add to that the repugs were scared of of him. Even 6 monthe back, I heard Michael Savage say we (repubs) dodged a bullet when the dems didn't select Dean.
OK, I'll stop ranting about Dean.
I'm glad that nut Rudy, is gone. He was the scariest of the bunch to me. Fortunately he was mostly a NY media candidate!
Obama, Hillary, McCain, Romney, zzzzzzzz. Based on how punk the dems were in '07, I became a Green man. The 4 major candidates are in the pockets of major corporate interest. Regardless of who gets in, this game is all over and they have won again!
By the way, I'm still not sure if this country would elect a Black man or a woman, least of all Hillary.

    Re: A John McCain shortcoming

Paul, this is so upsetting that a few tiny/medium-sized states get to control the whole winnowing down process of candidates. I wanted to vote for John Edwards and now thanks to fucking Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina & crotch-rot Florida--he's left the damn race!!! What a crock!!! Why do those states get to go first and we in California get no say in the process.?..we get the corporate-media chosen Obama & Hillary...no alternatives. :icon_evil::icon_evil::icon_evil:

    Re: A John McCain shortcoming

Exactly Marky. I really liked Edwards a lot more than I did in '04. Honestly, though I am Green, I would have voted for him if he was the Dem nominee.
Instead we got east bum-**** whittling down our choices. Unfortunately, I believe the party king-makers and corporate interest want it that way. It's easier to manipulate the mindset in those "little" states. It's all bullshit. The media ignored Edwards and they shut out Kucinich during the debates. They don't even pay attention to the Greens or Libertarians. Nah, we're better off knowing whenever Brittany takes a ****!

It's almost certain now: John McCain will be your commander in chief!

(Ralph Nader is most probably gonna join the election, will take away many votes from Obama/Clinton and will pave the way for the GOP to continue)

    Re: A John McCain shortcoming

Hi Paul, hope all is well with you.
I'm not back really, I just happened to cruise through here last night and saw the opportunity to point out the double standard used on this forum.

An Obama-McCain campaign will be most interesting. I have great respect for Sen McCain and remember quite vividly the years he was a guest at the Hanoi Hilton. A tremendous strength of character is the only thing that could have seen him through that ordeal.

Sen. Obama is quite eloquent. His liberal idealism reminds me a lot of Bobby Kennedy. IMO he is a far better candidate than Shrillary.
    As they say..."The plot thickens."

I have no idea how I will vote if at all this time. I will wait to see what happens at the conventions.

At this point none of those left standing leave me hot or cold . And after what we suffered with for eight years ..... anybody's an improvement .

I find comfort in McCain because he's so hated by the right group of political thugs. Even Ann Coulter has promised to campaign for Hillary if dastardly McCain gets the Republican nomination !!

Hillary is also despised by the right group of people that makes me OK with her. Just barely. .

Obama is smart and articulate. Such refreshing qualities in a president. Too bad John Kerry endorsed him.

Romney is the Washington outsider and maybe has the most creative ways of approaching old problems. Of course we thought that way here in Calif. with Arnold too.

My problem .. I have to send in my ballot today and I still don't know who I'm supporting. Well this is the primary and its changed in California so you can only vote within your party. Since I'm registered republican I've got to choose between Romney and McCain. Since Schwarzenegger endorsed McCain .....my vote I suppose , is going to Romney. Still got a couple of hours to mull it over ...

We also have three initiatives to vote on here in California . Each one is to give a specific Indian casino more slot machines .:icon_eek:

    That's Schwarzenegger's solution for California's money crises...more slot machines :icon_rolleyes::icon_lol::icon_eek: :icon_redface: :icon_confused: ( the state gets a good cut of the losers loses) !!
Well when Arnold first ran he proclaimed "It's time the Indians paid their fair share !!!" I guess this is what he meant !

Can you explain this to me? So you have to vote already for the candidate of your choice? That is voting for the candidate that you think will represent you the best, your pick for the real presidential election, right?

And are those votes (you and others) counted and the one that gets the most votes is then the Californian candidate for your party? Or does it work differently and is it even more complicated? (I really don't know that much about the American voting system).

And who's picking the running mate (candidate for vice-president)? The chosen candidate or the voters? And when will the teams be announced? Super Tuesday?

BTW, if I had to vote I really don't know who I would choose. Not Hillary Clinton, that's for sure.

Obama: gives a good impression but maybe a little too young and unexperienced.

McCain: I don't know, the guy has his temper, could be a second Nixon.

    Romney: interesting man!

Huckabee: Yes, until I read some of his ethical statements that are very dangerous and it seems that he will not temper those.

    And for the dropouts:

    Thompson: sorry, no way!

Giuliani: Yes but...I don't know what to think of him anymore.

Edwards: maybe I would have voted for him if he had stayed in the race. So maybe Edwards would have been my choice and now...Romney or Obama.
