Judy Cheeks "Mellow lovin" .. extended remix by Tom Moulton

.. back in 1978 Salsoul released a 12" single by Judy Cheeks called "Mellow lovin" which was about 5 mins in length .. the album version was exactly the same .. however there was a 7.34 min promo extended Tom Moulton remix 12" (presumably to keep the club djs happy) .. and of course this is the version everybody wanted .. the track became a huge club success in the U.S. & Europe .. described by many as the best disco record Abba never recorded (think Abba meets Santa Esmarelda) .. well finally the extended remix has turned up on a double CD from the U.K. called "Salsoul presents disco trance & cosmic flavas" .. an essential purchase for everyone ..

Cheers for that blanche. It's certainly not the usual Salsoul stuff that always gets trotted out on compilations is it?

.. it's a double CD of euro-disco, mostly licensed from european labels & producers before being minced thru the Moulton mix-machine .. in much the same way as Salsoul did with Silvetti, Chocolates, Gaz & Metropolis (the vocals on Metropolis being added later at Sigma in Philadelphia ) .. all of which would sound quite at home on this album .. I got this cd in London, after always wanting to get it. It is totally worth whatever price you end up paying for it.
There are so many great instrumental and spacy mixes that you'll gasp at.
There are a couple of great vocal mixes like that Judy Cheeks song that is indeed great, and First Choice "Great Expectations".
The ORS and Kebekelektrick tracks are stand outs. I need to get more of those :)
The odd track is the last one. Blondie's Call Me in its Spanish Version.
The track included here is pretty much a Dub. There is NOTHING Spanish about it, unless they mean it was popular in Spain lol.

The track that's really annoying to me is In The Year 2525, with its endless "in the year 3510 etc etc", I can't help but hope the world ended right then and there so that this song could have nothing more to say, lol.

The Salsoul 12" of "LLAMAME (Version Espanol) (CALL ME)" contained the entire song in Spanish.
Credited as "Spanish Lyric Adaptation by Buddy And Mary McClusky"
If you're not hearing the lyrics, it means the compilation has the b-side instrumental.

    Hey Stephen,
you mean the instrumental of the Spanish 12" is the dub with English lyrics? Cause that's what they have put on this compilation, a semi-instrumental mix with English choruses

Yes. The instrumental has Debbie's ad-libs and choruses in English.

Ok, then that's what they've put on the cd. Quite a mistake there lol.
The liners notes go to great lengths (if I remember correctly) about the Spanish version and then they put on the Instrumental ;)

I just noticed now your signature in your posts, were you trying to recapture Debbie and her licking a clear vinyl classic shot?

No. It's just a pic from a recent photo-shoot, where we were doing different takes my first press-pic, back in the 80's. (The one on the upper-left of my profile page.) I just used the same record as the first time. (RazorMaid Chapter 2) No reference to anyone/anything in particular.
