Help Needed A Real Stab In The Dark From England 1976-77.

This song was sung by a blonde haired man as far as I know.
It goes something like this .... instrumental at the beginning similar to the first 20 seconds of of this track especially the swishy swirly parts.
    And it then goes into
(Instumental part cymbals and swirly noises) De de de de de de, (vocal) Whooo!
(Instumental part) De de de de de de, (vocal) Whooo!
    (Instumental part)
De de de de de de, (vocal) Whooo!

And the chorus is something like this

    And I keep on dancing
    And I cant stop dancing,
    And i'm holding on.

Sorry I can only give you that I hope someone can help.
I remember it being on a red label 12" in England in the year 1976-77.
I will be surprised if anyone gets it, but I will know it when I see the title or artist name.
Thankyou for reading and thanks for helping.

Thanks for your quick reply but sadly not, I dont think it got as high in the uk charts as the tracks you posted, it went down well in the discos, though I have never seen it on a Disco Cd.

Was it more British? And do you know if it was known around the world?

Also, is the song still heard today?

I dont think it was British I think it was maybe Italian or Spanish the only other clue is the instrumental part of the video I posted, it definately had that whooshing swirling sound to it.:icon_eek: and like a banging on tin drums.
And lots of "whoos"! shouted by the singer whilst in between singing "And I cant stop dancing!.
I dont know if it was known throughout the world.
    The year could be 77-78.

I will remember this eventually and you will either say oh yeah! or I have never heard of it before, but glad you have now, its a really exciting record that I feel I will eventually find myself, in any event I will let you know.

Let's see. Blond male vocalist. Patrick Juvet? Leif Garrett?

The "whoohs" make me think of Dan Hartman.

And the "can't stop dancing" lyrics make me think of Sylvester.

    Not quite 1976/77, though.

    Hmmm...

O.K. one of the very few all red labels was Magnet in the U.K. Sooo, who was blonde and on that label?

What about Gene Farrow - Move Your Body. Had quite a few whoos, but not the other lyrics.

I can hardly believe it but thanks to Gavvo76 who has a great Disco collection and who came to my rescue, here is the big (but now very rare.) hit in the 1978 Discos of England, to be played loudly of course.
Gene Farrow - Don't Stop Now (1978) Stereo.

    ******

Thanks for sharing!!! This is an unknown song for me !!!

    My impression:

Starts off most promising with a KC/SUNSHINE BAND enthusiasm ....then slips into something vocally just a notch above JUMBO :icon_rolleyes: ... with sentiments like I love you/need you more than words can ever say
(translation: I'm lousy at writing poetic song lyrics) .... luckily at the 3:00 point it escapes into one of the most peppy cow bell lead breaks I've ever heard . 2.5 minutes of pure joy.
If only we could avoid the returning vocals: :icon_biggrin:
BUT even having said that, this song overall encapsulates all the joy and innocence found in certain disco that I typically relish . Love is in the air !!!
Therefore ignore the lyrics: enjoy the strings , horns and woooos .... & thumbs up ....way up !!! :icon_cool: ...Infectious ... woooo!

    A happy ending!:icon_mrgreen: That's what I like.

Thank you for posting it, as I went looking for a sample and could not find one.

Are you able to post the flip side, Oh-Nye-Ah?

I was DJing in Germany in 77 thru 79 and I don't remember hearing it. Not even on Radio Luxembourg.

I especially like the break and the outro.

Once again, congratulations on fulfilling your quest.

    Reunited,..and it feels so gooooood........

A very good review REMICKS I almost agree word for word and it is the break that I always enjoyed and it went from one speaker to the next (stereo.) swirling around your head,(nothing new nowadays I know.) I only wish it went on just that little bit longer.
About his vocals I always found them rather suspect, but for me in 1978 that kind of endeared me too the track as most Disco records were so polished.

I actually enjoyed the straining and the nearly breaking up of his voice, it just made it that bit more real too me it was like someone unsure,:icon_redface: out of the audience had grabbed hold of the DJs mic and decided to sing, and we all just danced along with him while he wobbled and whailed all over the place, I think it worked in the Clubs/Discos.

And with that I shall play it again and loudly, Nearly came a cropper last time, they dont make shoes like they use too, i'm use to being at least 6" higher.:icon_mrgreen:

It does feel good:icon_lol: I'm surprised so many people haven't heard of it

I requested "dont stop" from Gavvo76 who when he found it and put it up, he does do request if you want to request it i'm sure he will oblige, even he hadnt heard of it or Gene Farrow come to think of it, Spooky!

He does have more output. I am surprised that their isn't much out there about him. Both in print or on CD's.

Still, that's why we are here; to catch those songs that fell through the cracks so that others may get a chance to hear anew.

But I have to ask. What's a "cropper"?
