    Interesting RS article about the audio of records today

    The Death of High Fidelity : Rolling Stone

    with testimonials from record producers and musicians, audio files, wave images, and links.

    Blah! Blah! Blah! Notice most of the moaners are old (read half- way deaf), so I don't know how they can compare, or hear the detail they say they're missing and god quality compressors don't change the overall spectrum of an instrument or voice. It may be that engineers aren't quite as good as they used to be, or don't need to be as creative and therefore lost some old tricks that worked well.

    If anything, compression should help the details stand up in a mix, shouldn't it?
