Hi everyone,
This past week saw the very public meltdown of one of our former moderators. It was unfortunate that he chose to act in such a fashion after his resignation and I must apologize to everyone for his actions as I was ultimately responsible for adding him as a moderator.
Besides myself, we have two other moderators: Johan (Videoskooter) and Russ (Headlamp). They have done an admirable job helping to guide the community and I want to thank them for all they have done. Johan in particular has gone above and beyond to help me with the forums and other members so a big thank you to him!
I want to stress that the moderators must be respected as they have full authority to enforce the rules and now they even have the power to ban individuals as they see fit. Please abide by the common standards of the community and post politely and with respect.
Running a forum is a delicate balancing act and issues may not always be resolved swiftly or to everyone's satisfaction, but believe me, I and the moderators try as hard as possible to be receptive and fair so please give us the support we need to keep this a great place to visit by reporting problem posts/posters and not letting yourself get sucked into a flame war... or disputes with others that may arise from time to time.
Thanks for being a part of the forum and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a great 2008!

Mr Moderator: happy holidays to all. I enjoy this site very much. In this posting you mentioned enforcing rules, and I was wondering if you could explain one rule here that puzzles me....the one about not trading CDRs. Since the people who use this site presumably enjoy the same type of music and would be very likely to have recordings that other users would enjoy, why discourage sharing music, and specifically, ban music based on the configuration? thanks.
Hello Cory,
The main reason why this site and others don't encourage trades is that the people that are trading may have got the music or are using the music illegally. Even if you have bought a track, by offering it as a download on a public site you are in effect broadcasting or encouraging 'illegal' activity which can result in prosecution and heavy fines and this forum (like others) won't have the neccesary copyright licence.
It is a grey area, however the best policy is to avoid any complications and not allow it.

Yeah, the music industry is getting so strict on any type of music sharing, that they'll nail you for even breathing on a downloaded file that wasn't paid for if they could. I have strong opinions about why I'm against the industry's crackdown, but that's another topic.
Don't worry about apologizing, Bernie. This board is full of happy lovely people. Once in a while, someone has a really bad day, but otherwise, everyone is reasonably well-behaved. What I like about this place is that it isn't full of snobby music geeks who think they're the most important people in the world because they own particular records or know certain things about the music.
Keep on truckin'!

I wasn't referring to downloading, folks. I just wondered why friendly trading of CDRs isn't allowed. Since so much disco music is out of print and hard to find elsewhere this site would seem a very logical place for music fans to share......

Someone please explain. Did I miss something, as I don't come around here every day of the week.![]()
I hear ya buckaroo. Damn it, I hate when I miss the juicy stuff. Heck, I didn't even realize there were other moderators aside from Bernie and Johan :icon_lol:
Anyway, feel free to PM me for the dirt if it's a no-no for public discussion :icon_cool:
Find them and destroy them!
