Hi. i'm currently writing a book about musical obsessives (such as myself) & 80s music . There's also a good deal about the history of the 12 inch single in there too.
Part of the book deals with the label that I had a huge interest in as a kid - Record Shack of Soho, London.
For the book, I've compiled an almost complete discography of all Record Shack releases (many of those online have errors or are imcomplete) but am missing just three issues...or rather non-issues
They are catalogue numbers
SOHOT68
SOHOT70
SOHOT72
These were never released but I assume were originally allocated to three travks that were never issued (but were possibly out on white label). one of them could have been 'Thomas - You Take me Up'
Neither Ian Levine nor Jeff Weston (the label's former managing director) know the answers !
oh, and I've lost my copy of SOHOT76 - Shy Rose 'I Cry For You/Only Men' if anyone has a copy they wish to part with !
cheers

SOHOT 70 - Plaza - Don't Look Back - 1986
"Make me believe in you....show me that love can be true...."
Odd that neither Ian nor Jeff knew what they were...are we sure they were released ? Ian's memory is usually astonishingly good although I suspect the releases were after he'd parted with the label.
Maybe a list of what the others were might help then by elimination we can work out whats missing?
Yes, Ian does have a good memory. Jeff doesn't! The releases (or promos, as they weren't released properly) in question were indeed put out as Ian was leaving the label. Also, the label may have had money problems which might have prevented their release. SOHOT76 was their last release.
Yeah, while not always accurate it's the 1st place I go when seeking catalogue numbers or releases.
"Make me believe in you....show me that love can be true...."
I interviewed Jeff for 'Echoes' back in the day at the shop. I remember it so well because someone was playing Rockers Revenge 'Walking On Sunshine' in the shop and I remember saying that I preferred that sound to the Hi NRG sound ! I never did talk to Ian at the time though.
I bought Micheal Mcgloiry new, after hearing it at 'Bangs'. I have a theory this is the track that's on a famous playlist somewhere and never ID'd. My theory is it's mis titled or mis credited on the playlist. I'm wracking my brain to remember more now, I seems to remember posting something on the net...maybe on discomusicforums!
Oh, and welcome to the site Anorak...didn't realise how new you were here !
Not sure if you've seen this one?

Just discovered that SOHOT70 does exist - it's a remix of Plaza's 'Dont Look Back' (original release was SOHOT54).
Only SOHOT68 & SOHOT72 to go now......and I 'm sure one of them was meant to be Thomas 'You Take me Up'
