Pebbles - Girlfriend

A few years ago I asked if anybody had a copy of this version of GIRLFRIEND by PEBBLES. Never seen this version anywhere on vinyl?

it's definitely not on any commercial 12" on MCA.

That radio edit of "Girlfriend" was only issued on one of the two 12" singles released of the track. The first one that came out was the commercially released version most commonly heard at the time. There was a second 12" that was promo only that had Latin Freestyle type percussion and a noticeably different mix. That version was remixed by LA Reid & Babyface and Louil Silas, Jr.. The edits on this version were done by Greg "Mixmaster Gee" Royal, also later credited as Greg "Ski" Royal. The promo 12" which also has the same edit the music video has, has an MCA Records promo catalog number of L33-17486. The extended version of this promo runs 8:30, with the edit running 5:45. If you see another white label promo that runs 6:49 and promo catalog number L33-17426, that's the commercially released version and it won't be the one you're after. Good luck tracking this 12" down.

No problem efunk! Good luck in your search for a copy.:icon_biggrin: Too bad I didn't know a while ago you were looking for this. I actually had doubles of this 12" and I gave one of them away to a DJ buddy of mine.

Check out the compilations Number 1's: 80's soul on Hipo and Old School 9 on Thump which were both issued on 2007 if you want it on CD. The running time though is longer at 5:42. It was never my tune and preferred about every other song she did to "Girlfriend."
