    "Lady Sings The Booze"

Miss Ross has been drinking again. Arrested in Tucson, Arizona (of all places !!!), she was pulled over after someone reported a weaving car to the cops. Miss Ross told officers she had NOT been drinking and then proceeded to fail all the sobriety tests. She supposedly fell down laughing when they asked her to stand on one leg. Hey, looks like she's a "happy drunk"!!! Who knew???!!!! If only Mary & Flo had gotten Lady Di "drinkin'" back in the day!!!!

Access Hollywood showed sobriety tests Miss Ross failed last night. They made her write the alphabet "A B C C D" was how it started and she also fucked up her numbers of 1-30. (Can't recall what she screwed up...but they had her errors circled!!!)

Apparently, Miss Ross was trying to rent a movie at a local Blockbuster!!!! That's what she said!!!!

Hmmmm..."The Lost Weekend"? "The Days Of Wine & Roses"? "Barfly"? Oh, I know...."The Wiz" ....that would make me wanna drink, too.

So... is Miss Ross following Miss Jackson's lead now? When your career is NOT Happenning....grab some headlines for your bad behavior?

    Hey, I'm just askin!!!! :P

Hey Marky. As soon as I saw this saw story I knew it would resonate with you
I just think she wanted to get drunk and perhaps as I've heard said, was used to limo rides when she was blitz and assumed (being rich and all) she can drive with a 2.0 and who's to know :)
I knew she was a media whore but at her age, I kind a think she's past that. Isn't she at or near 60.

In another report, the police described her as "polite and cooperative" -- so she must've been blitzed!!

    Hey guys,
here's what happened with Lady D:

she was at home watching TV and holding her daily bottle of scotch when the announcer said: "And now, a classic movie, CABARET, starred by Oscar winner Liza Minelli!"

"My Oscar!", thought Lady D, "that bitch stole MY OSCAR!!!"

Then she pick up all the bottles of the place and dry them very quickly.

"My movie was FAR better than this piece of s**t. Where's my movie? I want to see my movie again. Where is it? HEY - WHO TOOK MY MOVIE AWAY? FU**ING BASTARDS! Now I'll have to go and rent my movie. MY MOVIE! MY OSCAR! I'M A STAR, I'LL ALWAYS BE A STAR!!!"

There she goes. Ease on down the road, Lady D...

    Peace and cheers for you,

This was on the news in Australia too

Yeah, I've heard about Diana's pissup too. Just shows stars are normal human beings like everyone else. Anyhow good thing she got busted because if she kept on driving while being pissed on the grog she'll probably hurt someone or herself.

Anyhow this is one of the pitfalls of being a superstar, you're private life gets exposed to the public. Diana may as well get a megaphone and yell out "HEY EVERYBODY I GOT BUSTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING!!!"   .

The media are such bastards. Do we care about any of the celebrities that much? Should anyone's privacy be invaded, in the way that the media does?
O.K. so Diana has been a so 'n' so in the past and possibly has her head up her own ass. So what? Do I care? Do I hell!!

    Yeah, I know.

When a celebrity does something wrong they cop the flack more than the average joe. Now my old man use to be a beer drinking yobbo when I was a kid and he often ended up at the cop shop for driving under the piss and does he make news headlines "A yobbo has just been caught by the police for drunk driving" I don't think so. Fair crack of the whip, celebs are just as human as my old man so why expose their private lives, they deserve as much privacy as the average joe. Well answering my own question, the media make big bucks from it, all they care about is money money money and don't give a **** if they are hurting someone real bad. Okay Diana Ross shouldn't be drink driving, but exposing her to the public is rubbing dirt in her just for a slip up. I would understand if a celeb commits murder/rape, then it needs to be exposed as the average joe also gets exposed by the media if he/she commits murder/rape but drink driving fair crack of the whip, lots of people end up at the cop shop for drink driving. It's a common offence.

    Hey everybody,

here's an idea: the cops can tie our Lady D to a chair and make her listen to Stevie Wonder's DON'T DRIVE DRUNK again and again and again - 1.338 times to be exact. I believe she will never ever drive drunk again!

I LOL with Zeca's story! Saw miss Diana on TV and felt sorry for her. Be careful with Michael Jackson! He always imitated Diana (even her face), so this could be Jacko's path in the future!
About the press, all I can say is: if you want to be famous, you know you'll be famous for the good and for the bad. Nobody pointed a gun to these people and forced them to smile at the paparazzi, huh? And if you want them to tape your marriage, birth of your baby, etc. etc., it's obvious they'll want also to be there when you make a faux-pas.
On the other hand, Bod Dylan got married again in the 80's and nobody knew until recently. So there's a suggestion on how to manage your public career.
Anyway, it's not so terrible. All Diana has to do is go to Barbara Walters or Larry King, grab their microphones from their hands and say "I'm sorry, I felt alone and that bitch Liza stole my Oscar, etc.". Then, a couple of exclusive interviews with selected magazines and there she is at the plateau again.

While I would normally agree with you on this sentiment, I do have to make an exception for Miss Ross. She is not your typical celebrity media fodder. Going over her life story is like watching Citizen Kane. It's fascinating in the way that she showed what you can do if you have -- to borrow a line from The Usual Suspects -- "The Will". She wasn't any more talented, smart, or prettier than than any other woman who came from the projects, but she would let nothing stand between her and fame and riches. Her snake-and-mongoose relationship with Berry Gordy is enough material for a movie alone. She was absolutely determined to get where she wanted, and she got it.

She spent the first 20 years of her career rising to and being at the top. Since then it has been a steady slide down. Falling album sales, the disgrace of the failed Supremes reunion, the divorce from the man that she only married for money, and now this. Has Flo got her revenge? Has the time come to pay the real price for her gains? Is success really nothing without someone you love to share it with? (sorry, couldn't resist that one... it's the tag line from "Mahogany", for those who don't know). I find all this far more fascinating than any of Miss Ross' actual music or movies.

More fallout on "Lady Swigs The Booze":

Well, yesterday a judge ruled that the tapes of Miss Ross' arrest will be made available to the press!!!!!!

Her lawyer argued the release of these tapes would do irreparable damage to her career and image!!!!

The "Love Hangover" continues!!!! Fasten you seat belts...it's gonna be a bumpy ride.

The new show Celebrity Justice is my new source for all things interesting in the wacky world of celebrity.

Aside from Miss Ross, Pete Townshend of The Who was arrested on charges of visiting and downloading kiddie porn from internet sites and there is a rumor of another name star being implicated in that sting also.

In addition, there is some rumor of arson in the mysterious fire that burned down one of Aretha Franklin's houses in Detroit. The rumor is that Aretha was trying to unload the house and has been a tad uncooperative in the investigation of the suspected arson. Therefore, inquiring minds suspect, what, uh.....some involvement, maybe?????

Hey, I'm just regurgitating what I heard them speculate!!!

Is this the revenge of the pushing 60 former Superstar Legends???? Could it be the media only pays attention to them when they misbehave? Hey, I'm just askin'!!!!!

What is an ARSON? I must look for that in the dictionary...
I was also surprised for the Pete Townshend case. I even came to think "what is considered child porn? Under 21? If that's it, those 'mobs' must be huuuuge..." But of course I'm just speculating...
Here's my opportunity to point out that I've always been surprised by Townshend confessing his own homosexual self. I mean, a guy playing his guitar with his arm doing violent circles and then smashing the instrument against the speakers is not our common image of a gay person isn't it? (But of course, with this I'm giving away my own prejudices about the issue...)
What do "the boys" think about this wild "boy"? I imagine a conservative rock listener reading today's news, slamming his fist to the table and growling: "what the heck is happening with good old rock and roll lifestyle, chrissakes?" :o
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)

    Nano,

"Arson" is intentionally setting fire to buildings; you know "Burning Down The House" as Talking Heads sang. Most likely, to collect insurance money.

I always thought Pete Townshend's admission of some homosexual experiences in his past was quite brave. I certainly would NEVER have suspected him. Elton and George Michael are another story. They were quite obvious.

    Back to Miss Ross....

Entertainment Tonight & probably Access Hollywood are supposed to have the Ross arrest video tonight. BUT, I read in People that her lawyer only agreed to it if they cut the audio portion of the tape. DAMN!!!!!!

I've just seen on BBC a clip of her staggering around the car. But it didn't show her falling over, damn! Frankly if a celeb courts publicity then they deserve publicity, even when it doesn't suit them. A lot try to control interviews and journalists are put in an impossible position..do they ask the forbidden question and risk having the interview terminated or stay quiet and live to ask another day. Over here the worst (to me) are Posh and Becks..they've allegedly had kidnap threats against their kids yet they're photgraphed at every opportunity..with the kids. What happened to their discretion?

Well, Entertainment Tonight finally played that video of Miss Ross last night....and frankly, it didn't show squat as far as I was concerned. I heard the "falling down" episode had happened prior to what they are showing...BUT, on Celebrity Justice, a lawyer specualted that the clip they are showing might actually work in Miss Ross' favor. She doesn't look out of it, doesn't appear to be staggering or anything....just cold. I heard it was in the 30's that night in Tucson.

Billy Masters, in his gossip column, used several of MY jokes!!!!! ("Love Hangover"/getting drunk to rent "The Wiz", etc.) in his commentary. He also mentioned that since the failure of the "Return To Love" tour, La Ross spends much of her day (and night) in the attic of her Connecticut estate where she houses all her old gowns with a bottle of white wine, wondering where it all went wrong!!!!

She told Oprah that all her old gowns are stored in her attic and white wine has been named as her fave drink!!!!! Go figure!!!

Well, Miss Ross is going to need some extra income to cover her legal fees. Those fans of hers that are remaining should check out the latest of her remastered albums from Motown, "To Love Again". 11 bonus cuts added to this 1981 album, which originally consisted of 9 songs. Same thing with the remastered version of the "Diana Ross" album - the one with "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Is that the only way Motown can get anyone to buy Diana's CDs anymore???

Anybody see the latest antic of Miss Ross?

"Ross Drives Off with Another Citation" by Julie Keller
    Mar 12, 2003, 12:20 PM PT

By now, you'd think Diana Ross would just stop driving and hire a chauffeur.

Less than three months after her embarrassing DUI arrest in Arizona, everyone's favorite diva has been involved in another, albeit much more minor, automobile mishap.

This time the lady was singing the blues after getting pulled over Sunday in Greenwich, Connecticut, for driving an unregistered car.

Ross, who has a home in the town, was flagged down after an eagle-eyed cop noticed she was driving a black Ford Taurus (yes, Ford Taurus) with an expired license plate. She tried to get out of the ticket, claiming she doesn't often drive the car because it is owned by her booking agency in Los Angeles, but the boys in blue weren't buying it.

The 58-year-old entertainer was stuck with a ticket and a $78 fine. Her publicist, Paul Bloch, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Her fans, who have remained loyal to the singer-actress through years of bizarre antics and tantrums, are still keeping the faith, however.

"This woman is a legend....you think she's gonna sweat 78 bucks? Please. Those stupid cops just did that so they could have something to tell the press about," defended one Ross lover on a Yahoo message board. "I'm sure they got paid off."

"Stop the presses--her registration expired," scoffed another fan. "I guess it's a slow news day."

The media attention to this latest ticket isn't completely unfounded. This is the second time in less than 90 days that the supreme Supreme has faced heat for poor behind-the-wheel performance. She was pulled over in December in Tucson, Arizona, after police spotted her driving erratically through the city's streets in the wee hours of the morning. She utterly botched various field sobriety tests and blew a 0.20 percent blood-alcohol level.

At the time, she was ticketed for three misdemeanors: driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content over 0.08 and "extreme DUI" for having a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.15 percent.

Ross didn't appear for her January arraignment in Arizona. Instead, her legal team filed a "notice of appearance" claim and pleaded innocent on her behalf on all three charges.

Ross is due in court Wednesday in Tucson to stand trial for the DUI charges. Let's hope she doesn't drive herself.
