    100 Hits - Disco

Picked this up from my local Asda store for 6 Eng pounds.

    dixons-entertainment.co.uk - 100 Hits - Disco

For a mainstream release, I think it may have to rank as one of the finest disco compilations out there.

    Re: 100 Hits - Disco

I'm up to Disc 3 and so far all the cuts are original. 'Nights Over Egypt' extended from the other versions I have heard. 'The Groove' is the cut (single?) version.

Never heard 'Got To Be Real'. Sounds like an EWF production.
'Disco Nights' and 'You Know How To Love Me' I haven't heard for over twenty years. Great to hear them again. Classic stuff.

One of the CDs contains a very odd version of 'Native New Yorker'.
Original mulitrack with additional percussion, added reverb to vocals and a heavily compressed final mix. Nasty.

    Kleeer - Tonight's The Night.

    That's a great track.
Is it worth searching out more of their stuff?

I'd say so. Real quality stuff from this group. I love their first LP from '79 'I Love To Dance' as it's the most 'disco' but their 80s LPs are also very good funky disco/boogie ('Get Tough' is brilliant), well played & produced, kinda like a cross between Chic & the SOS Band at times. Kleeer also played on other classic disco stuff like Candido too as they were super session musicians.:icon_cool:

You have to listen to "DE KLEEER TING" from the "licence to dream" album.

    That's what I call a great intro.

I remember BITD that the DJ was intentionally doing a cold start on this song which begins with a massive earthquake style rumble.

I can still feel the pleasure of that 3000 watts of musical power into my chest!

Kleer stuff is produced to me a bit on the "D-Train" pattern, with their efficient riffs.

Damn! I miss those days so much...:icon_cry:

"Da Kleeer Thing" is a monsterjam! The punch and power that comes out of that track is beyond imagination!
"Taste The Music" is another coolstompin' groove!

So is "Keep Your Body Workin'"!

    And of course: "Get Tough"

    A very underrated band!
