Dancing with the Stars and Disco.

    Hi.

Just saw the Australian version of DWTS after they advertised it as "Individual Disco." Pretty disappointing. I was expecting to see people dancing the Hustle but what did they do? Rip offs of the SNF moves.
(I thinking nowadays maybe SNF was the worst thing that ever happened to Disco)

I shouldn't have been surprised but I was disappointed. I really wanted to see them doing the Hustle. Hoping it would show people some real (I think) Disco culture.

Naturally enough they were treating it all as a joke. Half the guys with afros and all but one of the women dressed as 60's Go-Go dancers.

I am sick of Disco not getting any respect.

Did your local version of DWTS treat Disco any better?

    Cheers,
    Tim Tam

Thanks for keeping me posted Videoskooter.

"Dancing on Ice" didn't work so well in Australia. Because it doesn't ever get cold enough out here for lakes to freeze over, nobody knows how to skate. They still went ahead with the concept but they were in danger of cancelling the program because the contestants were getting injured at such a rate.

There were broken ribs, total knee reconstructions, concussions, fractured ankles and in one young woman's case, a broken pelvis.

It hasn't been on again. I think even the most desperate of z-list celebrities are too scared.

    Cheers,

Yep, over here too, the medical team is always present :icon_eek:

Well, my wife just informed me that

    1. It was 2night
    2. They played very obscure Disco, like "Lost In Music", "Knock On Wood", "That's the way I Like It" and there were lots of glitterballs and fake Afrowigs.

I think we didn't miss that much. Better luck next time!

Hey! there was ( i think that still is) a program in Spanish tv called "mira quién Baila" (see who dances) with celebrities dancing with professionals diferent genres. Of course one of those is Disco and is a bit ridiculous this and the Hip Hop one.
    you can see it here

YouTube - David Civera bailando disco en mira quien baila (i know the music hurts... everything hurts!)

i was checkin in youtube some similar programs from other countries.... and well the celebrities can't dance hahaha but at least the choreography is better (i think)

YouTube - Alexandra & Randi - Disco (i like the way he turns at the begining. The guy has some cool moves...the girl does what she can ^^U)

But i'm nobody to say who's doin wrong cause i'm not the greatest dancer hahahaha
better not to talk about their idea of disco culture.
