As we moved further into the eighties .... " disco" became more and more an exiled term with
dance music dividing itself amongst several more acceptable labels ( call me anything ... just don't call me "disco" !!) .
What then do you think was the last song
to use the word "disco" in its lyrics in a straightforward way?
Meaning not in an intentionally retro "post disco" way or trying to be clever, hip, nor as a silly or negative reference .....
I'm wondering if it could be :
from 1983
btw notice anything odd about the cover ?

and is it the extra finger?

YouTube - Sissy - Queen Of Discoteque (Italo-Disco 1984).
How about MABEL "Disco, Disco" (1999)
YouTube - Mabel - Disco Disco
It's really hot - stop!!! Saaaay: Magnifique!
How about this for a sneaky one......
Swedish band Alcazar had a hit in 2001 with a dance tune titled 'Cryin at the Discotheque, which sampled heavily, the 1979 hit, Spacer, by Sheila B Devotion. Incidently, that one was written and produced by Chic.
How about Kylie Minogue Your Disco Needs You (2000/2001) or the Kelly Marie/Tina Charles version of it a couple of years later?
"Make me believe in you....show me that love can be true...."
Here's one from 1987...
Mega (Silicon Dream) - You've got a bauspavertrag
"Well, it was in frisco... frisco town's a Disco Town"
Can anyone tell me what a 'Bauspavertrag' is please?![]()
I think I can answer your question, fabbathanabba. A "Bausparvertrag" is a Building Loan Agreement or Contract. LOLOL.:icon_mrgreen:
Would you have guessed that? :icon_biggrin:
...please don't ask me to explain "Maschendrahtzaun."
It's really hot - stop!!! Saaaay: Magnifique!
:icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol: Thanks Magnifique! no, I would never have guessed that one!!!
I guess "Baby you got a, baby you got a, you got a building loan agreement or contract" would definitely sound odd LOL :icon_lol:
So...
I was in NYC Saturday at my favorite Indian food spot on sixth, and they are playing Indian house music. Then a song comes on, the only part in english is the chorus....
"Its time for disco, Its time fooorrr the diiiiissssscccoooooooo!"
Not sampled, and in seriousness. Guess they know whats up out there!:icon_biggrin:
