    You're The One?

    Hi guys!
I came across this clip on Youtube with some discodancecontest from 79 and there's this song that's soooo friggin' nice.
Could someone check the clip out and see if you know the song?

And YES! It's DownTown Judy Brown in the yellow/golden pants!

    Thanks a million!

Great track indeed! What's the chorus? "Let's boogie to the gutter"? "Butter"?

Have you tried asking Keb Darge, who seems to appear in the show? He has a MySpace account he can be reached at, and he might be able to answer... Please keep us posted!!!

    Yeah!
I've been tryin' to figure out that lyric part too! Can't make it out either and searching for oh baby you're the one part turned out to be kinda futile...
I found a track called you're the one from 79 by a guy called Gap Mangione which was close but no cigar...
    Check it here:

    Thanks again!

I do believe they are singing "The Boogie Children Have Got It "

.....although "Lets Boogie To The Gutter" would make a good title !

My memory of these UK 70's dance TV shows is that the music was usually especially recorded for the programme rather than played from discs.

Lots of Northern Soul styled dance moves in there too.

That would be my fear. But the track everybody wants to ID is immediately followed by that Gonzalez track. Do you mean that they re-recorded known tunes by appointed studio musicians/singers? That would still mean there's an original track to copy! I really hope there was a commercial release...

....and karate/kung fu. Seems like Carl Douglas took his toll... I'd never noticed how much influence this martial arts fad, that hit the US and apparently the UK in the late '70s, had had on dancers...

I REALLY hope there is a recording somewhere of this! I mean I can't help bouncing around in my chair infront of the computer when I hear it! Just can't sit still! That's what true dancemusic's about, right! It almost forces your body to move!

Does anyone here have a MySpace account so they can contact this person? I don't have one so I'd be ever so thankful!

I just posted inquiries on Keb Darge & Downtown Julie Brown's MySpace sites. I also hope we get that answer. I'll obviously forward the answer when/if I get it.

    You found it! Thanks!!!
But this isn't the same one as the one in the clip. Maybe it's an specielly made version made for the show. This version here is not as energetic and speedy as the one in the clip!
    Thanks a million!!!

Quite puzzling, indeed. I found the Gonzalez LP today ("Move it to the Music"), and having listened to the track several times, I must say the version is different. In the clip, the beat is sped up quite a bit, and despite a close arrangement and construction of the track, and a similar total time (give/take 10 seconds), the Gonzalez LP track is different...

Is this a cover version? Was it ever released? (it's good!!!)

I was wondering if an alternate remix had been created, but given the similar construction, and time, I kinda doubt it...

I still don't know what the chorus is: "the boogie tuna's coming", or "the boogie tune I'm cutting", or even "the bogus tuna I'm cutting"....
