WOW, 4 ads on the same page

all about converting albums to CDs. As soon as I learn to do that (and PLEASE don't go on about how easy it is, not everyone is at the same level of computer expertise) I have probably 50 or 60 records I can sell. Which service do you recommend for selling records? So far GEMM looks the least complicated but if anyone has any other suggestions I'd be interested in hearing them. Thanks.

Hey, all ya gotta do is buy a vinyl to USB turntable for a couple of hundred bucks and the road to financial enlightenment is yours, BUT......then you'll have so many frisbees in a few years time, if you decide not to keep all your toons on (preferably a couple of detachable) hard drives and just put all of 'em onto cheap ol' CD-R.

If you aren't worried about making big money, do a car boot sale.

You could post them on the buy n' sell section on this site.

Quinny: I recently ordered one, so we'll see how it works out. I'd like to know why so many of these turntables don't have pitch control...I paid extra to order one that DOES have pitch control because that's important to me. I'm also curious about several models not having dust covers. I already know how to transfer an album onto a cassette and THEN onto a CD but the resulting quality isn't worth the trouble. I'll bet I have about 200 records I can get rid of after making digitized copies, but not all of them will be disco...they'll be in a variety of genres.

I prefer to run them from my turntable onto my PC and edit the audio using a program like Goldwave. This is because you'll find the EQ levels on various vinyl sources, not to mention the volume, will vary from record to record.

Even though I'm converting my vinyl to CDR, I'm keeping them. I bought them to have them, and just make CDRs so the music is portable (I can rip these into WMAs or mp3s), and I don't damage my records from repeated play.

I found that when I first started making the CDRs the way I EQ'd the music was okay, but later my taste in how it sounded changed, so I redid many records. In other words, you may find yourself revisiting some of your vinyl later down the road if you feel at that later point you didn't do as good of a job as you wanted, or you found the sound was dirty, and you thought you could get it cleaner with another pass. That usually occurs after you've heard many records and discovered some sound better than others, so you want to make them all sound as equal as possible.

But that's just me. I'm totally into the SOUND of the recordings, not just whether it's musically good, which is why I'm a sucker for Philly stuff - they sound so incredible.
