DD,
Nice work and a trip back in time... Great items!!! Thank you for posting these.
I'm sure others will dig up things and scan and then post them here. This may very well become a sticky.
One small note: I redid your pics as attachments to the post instead of linking because the links will ultimately expire whereas attachments will stay with your post forever. Just click the paper clip icon in the editor and you can upload up to five pics per post. Thanks again.

Hi, Not a 'physical' item., but two sensory ones - if you know it you KNOW it:
1. The smoke smell off a 12"/LP sleeve....especially the Cigarry smell...
2. The smell of NEW Vinyl inside the 12"..what a wonderful sweet smell that was...and just occasionally you come across it again even now !!:icon_cool:
Enclosed are 2 playlists from Chicago's Disco radio station WDAI which ran from sometime in 78 until early 1980. I had a third list, but time looses all memories :( I personally found this station when I was actually given a oooh, hear this .... a AM/FM stereo alarm clock radio! That was a big deal in 78! From 980 to about 85 when DISCO was a dirty word, I collected most of my 2000 disco 12"/LP from the ALS Mamouth Music Mart held each year in Skokie Illinois. I stop going once I pretty much acquired everything/ Of course Im missing some great classics, but 2000 does cover alot! Funny, most records were had for .25cent to $1 - the $1 dollar price was only around 84-86 when I bought up most of the good stuff and all the DJs stopped dumping their stacks.:icon_cool:
Lastly, I have some BITD 1/4" Reel-to-reel mixes I did from 80-84 when I when I had the only 3hr weekly pure disco station show in the Midwest. I and the other at the college station actully charted on Arbitron the last 2 years - not bad for 300 watts mono-FM uni-directional range!!! Phone wouldnt stop ringing. Seemed like not everyone was sold on New wave.
I also acquired some interesting promos while working at the station. Seems that one of the DJ's there was the son of Polydors/Mercury head Sale honcho in the Midwest. As a result some interesting material was offloaded for free out of their garage. That is were I aquired my Liquid Gold LP promo copy - still has the "Load for Promotion Only Not for Sale Ownership and all rights Reserved" stamp on it :()
Have fun and look...

Back in the late 80's, when the Disco Classics revival was just barely hatching, within some select avant guard clubs...(otherwise, still looked upon with distain by the general public) Rick Finch showed-up a The SeaGull Hotel, on Miami Beach where I was working.
The complete opposite of Harry Wayne Casey; Rick was quiet and unassuming. If it hadn't been for my knowing what he looked like, he would have slid in, and back out, with the crowd, all but unnoticed.
He graciously came up to the DJ booth and chatted with myself and my light-man for about 1/2 an hour, flattering me on my talents, while I think I surprised him with my knowledge of his work.
After spending a Friday (and/or?) Saturday night with us, I invited him to come by for our Sunday T-Dance. To experience a completely different atmosphere, and our (at that time) legendary attendance and energy. He did return. And as I recall, was pleasantly surprised to see the dance-floor's reaction to his composition "I Get Lifted", by Sweet Music, some 20+ year after it's release.
He didn't wander our way again. But I was left with a very strong and positive impression, of a quiet, talented and genuinely nice Man.
Loni,
Even if Rick doesn't remember those two weekends, some 20 years ago..I certainly do. Please pass along my sincerest best wishes, from a true fan.
all the best... all the time...

Hi Stephen...
I read your note to Rick over the phone just a little while ago. The man has the mind of an elephant! He does somewhat remember that weekend. He had been speaking with some local radio DJ's who had told him about the response the retooled "I Get Lifted" was getting in the club scene and had been making the rounds in Miami to check it out. He says it's always a rush when your music does good the first time around, but when it takes on new life through new artists... that THAT is something beyond description!
... and you're right. He is genuinely a nice, unassuming, humble (and actually quite funny!) man. What you see is what you get with Rick, so you can trust that you met and chatted with the real deal! He said to convey his best............. and I personally hope your paths cross again so that you can pick up that conversation where you left off (odds are he'll remember the last sentence!).
This is such a great memory... if you get a chance (and are so inclined), Rick would love it if you'd do the 'cut and paste' thing and put it in the guest book on his web site - totally your call.
Thank you again... also from ME. I love learning new things about Rick and he has the absolute BEST fans - so giving!
Cheers...
Loni
