These sound really interesting and want to know if they are any different from the album versions?
I would love it if you added them to this site's Record Vault along with a scan of the label.

I just found these 2 records:
Deacon blues(12 inch promo copy)-STEELY DAN(1978)
Livin' thing(12 inch promo-clear vinyl)-E.L.O.(1976)
Are these records very rare?.....

I know it's just me guessing, but if they are different from the LP mixes, that would be highly unusual for pop/rock dance records I've found. Most of the ones I've come across were straight lifts from the LP. Occasionally there were remixes, like What A Fool Believes by The Doobie Brothers, Da Ya Think I'm Sexy by Rod Stewart, or When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman by Dr Hook. And I think Lotta Love by Nicolette Larson was put out as a remix long time ago, I'm not sure.
Disco Funk
"Lotta Love" was a remix, slightly different than the LP version. I had the ELO 12", and I recall that one being just about the same as the LP.
The "Deacon Blues" 12" (ABC 33) runs 6:40, which is almost a minute shorter than the album version (at least the one on the "Citizen Steely Dan" CD comp). Among others, ABC also put out 12"s on "Aja" (ABC 26), "Josie" (ABC 36) and "Here at the Western World" (ABC 47). The 12"s from "Aja" all have title covers that play off the album cover.
