Just stumbled across this double CD - released three weeks ago in the UK. No new tracks but all the famous, and not so famous, tracks from all previously released albums. Excellent value and saves on dusting down the vinyl to create the same package, however not too many extended versions. 'Dance, dance, dance', 'Everybody dance' and 'I want your love' are here in their extended formats.
All tracks have been taken from the albums 'Chic' with the original Chic girls, Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin and Norma Jean Wright, up to and including 'Chic-ism' with lead vocals by Sylver Logan Sharp and Jenn Thomas.
Saw You On The Dance Floor, Telling Me You Wanna Go, As We Danced The Night Away, I Wanted You To Stay.

I recommended this CD about a year ago. If you are a BMG Music Club member, you can get it cheap.
Everybody Dance 6:42, Soup for One 5:36, Chic Mystique 6:39 and Your Love 5:57 are the lp versions and not the 12" versions.
15 Real People 3:45
HIGHLY underrated Chic cut. One of my fave late period numbers, along with Stage Fright.
"I come from a world where there's nothing you can live for, except when day turns into night, I'm a star in neon lights..."
Is there anyone else that likes "Chic Mystique"? I went crazy over this track when it came out.
Also I have a 12 inch credited to Chic called "Jack Le Freak" which is a house version of Chic material. Can't remember if its Le Freak only or a mix of songs. Anyone familiar with this?
I have this 12 inch in storage - I think that it's like a mash-up of "Le Freak" and "Jack Your Body" or like you said, a house mix of "Le Freak".
From the track listing, looks like the producers of this compilation listed the tunes chronologically (at least by release date of the LP's the tunes were taken from). I greatly respect that attention to detail !!!:icon_biggrin:
Is anyone else a fan of Happy Man from the C'est Chic record?
Sao Paulo is another forgotten Chic cut, but so laid back and summery....hm, gets me thinking about making a summer cocktail disco mix.:icon_surprised:
"I come from a world where there's nothing you can live for, except when day turns into night, I'm a star in neon lights..."
meeee!!! haha! i wanna say something about "City Lights" !!!! i don't know if i heard Hangin' too many times or what but i would say this one is my favourite from Tongue in Chic!!!!!
they have many underrated songs!
PS: i LOVE chic Mystique too!
As usual My Forbidden lover is in its 4:42 lp form. Is the 6:20 12" version available on a cd?
Thanks
truly great tracks there, but it always frustrates me that I've never seen any Chic hits collection that contains the hypnotic ballad "A Warm Summer Night", a song so sexy even the mighty Isley Brothers covered it. And my copy of the "Risque" album has wow and flutter.
speaking of Chic, yesterday I found an album co-produced by Nile Rodgers I had never heard of called "OutLoud". Anyone know anything about this record? Is it rare and valuable (I hope)?

What's the general opinion on the early 80s group Change of music lovers? They pretty much highjacked much of the Chic sound and made some great records.
I recently purchased The Final Collection (2cd with approx 28 tracks) and the complete collection (5 albums, one is missing, they did 6 apparently) which includes some edits and extended versions.
I never appreciated Luther Vandross before. And you can also hear a fab Jocelyn Brown :)
Now I'd like to get the most of Chic in the best quality possible, but the cds I see in stores usually seem very bare-bones and cheap.
This Groove collection goes for 20 pounds on amazon! I will never spend that much for a double cd. It is way too much, I have never seen a simple 2cd collection like this go for 20 pounds.
Change, like many of those 'Little Macho'/JFP outfits such as High Fashion & BB&Q Band did steel Chic's sound along with many others such as Narada Michael Walden & Gino Soccio, but if you listen to all of Change's LPs you'll find that they had many different styles such as euro/hi-nrg as on 'The End', soulful hi-nrg as on 'Searching', funk as on 'Hard Times' & mellow groove stuff as on 'The Very Best In You'. Interestingly they got back into that Chic sound all over again for their last LP with 'Mutual Attraction' & 'Oh What a Feeling'. Those musicians in Bologna, Rome & New York could tackle any style & do it to perfection!:icon_razz:
...ya gotta beat the street......
Thanks Miss Dee, I wonder why they left it off the collection. Maybe they had a strict 5cd-box for the series...
Is the album worth getting (tracking down I guess)?
Also my reason for asking about Change before is that several songs have very distinct sounds and melodies that I am sure have been sampled or worked/improved upon, but I was wondering of those were original or already Chic-inspired riffs and stuff ;)
