Bought Sisley Ferre - Best of Vol 1 cd on ebay recently from a Dutch seller Formula_hot, who claims to be Erik Van Vliet, I don't know, maybe he is, but it does not really matter

I was very excited about it, beacause I thought it was going to be a Factory pressed cd.

But it ended up being a cheap CD-R!! Yeah, CD-R, with messed up artwork. $24 for a cheap CD-R! And auction said nothing about CD-R. What a liar!

I don't know if I am the only one who was sold that CD-R, but beware, is all I can say.

The guy is a real ******* as well. Refused to give a refund. A ripoff, that's what it was, $24 for a CD-R!

Can someone please comment??? Are all of those Formula_hot cd's made on CD-R????

I bought the same cd from him along with a best of Hotsound cd and was quite happy with them in all honesty as I was buying it for the music not the packaging. I'm not sure that I paid that much for them though. It is Erik Van Vliet as well as I had a long conversation with him about Hotsound & Sisley. I think calling him a dirtbag and a thief is a bit uneccessary

So, was yours made on a CD-R disc as well?? Sisley Ferre Vol 1 CD is what I am talking about.

Mine was! Not to mention the picture on the disc had ink smudges on it, which made it even worse looking? I was very disappointed. It was not worth $24! and he sells them on ebay for starting price of $19 plus shipping, and final prices tend to go even higher. A ripoff!!!!

Can you maybe even post a picture of what your disc looks like? If possible of course. I would appreciate that, so I can compare it to mine

I bought mine about 2 years ago off him on Ebay. It's in a jewel case with the same sleeve that you posted. It's numbered 002 of 100 as it's a limited edition and is signed by Erik himself. The cd itself is a plain white cd with printed track information on there, which I guess you could say is a cd-r but to be honest I am more than happy to have the Sisley Ferre tracks on cd, as the only other alternative was to try and track down the original cd that was released around 1988/89 and you'd be looking at paying a fair wack for it.

Did you not ask him for a replacement rather than a refund? If the cover was smudged maybe he can send you another one? I wouldn't say it's a ripoff, at the end of the day the cd has 11 Sisley Ferre tracks on which are pretty rare in this format. I just think to go slating anyone on a public forum is a bit out of order. If you're unhappy then it's understandable to be angry but calling him a dirtbag and a thief is pretty uneccessary.

I was the one who posted this CD on discomusic.com website. The printing on the CDR I received was not perfect, but the sound quality on this CD was one of the best sounding CD's I've ever purchased. The music was transferred directly from master tapes and the songs were all full length 12" versions. The price was very reasonable and I wouldn't have posted this CD on this website unless I felt it was worth owning. I could care less what the CDR looks like. The music is what's most important! If the CDR printing bothers you that much, why not burn another CDR with your own cover and printing? For fans of Sisley Ferre and the group she sang with, "Attack", this release is absolutely highly recommended!

Would have been very helpful to know that disc was made on CD-R and looks very cheap, like something home-made. And, as I said earlier, mine had ink-smudges on it. The auction did not say anything about CD-R, and to me that's called lying or false advertisement.

$24 fot that piece of garbage! Come on! I've seen better looking Eastern European and Asian bootlegs than that. And I could care less about the signature.

Not to mention it took him over a month to send it to me. He said "they were out of stock", only after I contacted him about the status of my order. So imagine how upset I was when I received that cheap- looking CD-R that I paid $24 for and waited for a month to get. Most people today don't even want to pay $10 for music, and I paid $24 to get a cheap CD-R from that looser. I was not only upset ,but also offended!

That guy is one of the worst people I've ever dealt with, and yeah, words like ******* and dirtbag describe him very well. I used even harsher words in my e-mail to him, when he refused to refund my payment or even part of my payment.

That's what he told me, instead of giving me a refund. He also said that he "could have even printed this on toiletpaper, as long as it's an official release"... well, he just might as well have printed it on toiletpaper.

But Facts remain the same

1. It is a CD-R... and based on what I received, a cheap looking and poorly made one too.
2. His auction says absolutely nothing about CD-R, which makes him a liar
3. Starting price is $19....yeah, for a cheap home-made CD-R. Greed is really strong in this case.

I might as well have found a person who has the original 1989 issue of this CD, and asked him to burn me a copy, or traded with him, or something. Why pay $24 for a cheap CD-R? But I think seller thinks money just grows on trees here in US.

It would be decent to let people know what they are buying. But decency and honesty apparently are not one of his virtues. Sad that people like that are associated with discomusic.

yes, I threatened to leave negative feedback on ebay if he did not refund my money. Can you blame me? After I received a cheap looking CD-R with ink smudges on it. I said nothing about the sound of CD! Sound is ok, at least from what I heard. But I do know that some cd players don't even play cd-r's well.

But for $24 I expect a well packaged product, not a smudged CD-R. I don't know, maybe it's crazy to expect high quality when you pay $24 for a new cd, and not some half-baked CD-R!!?

This guy is a liar and at prices that he sells, a real thief.

#### ASK someone who has that CD to just BURN you a copy. Don't waste your money buying over-priced CD-R's from this lying looser. And don't be mislead by his auction description:icon_sad: ##########

I have to agree with Ken also. It's the music I wanted and was quite happy with the packaging. If invisibleman just took a bit of time and thought more about the time it probably took to remaster all the tracks digitally then $24 is more than worth it. In fact thanks for pointing me to the Volume 2 as it contains her version of The Deep which I don't have on cd, so will be making a purchase of that now.

Invisibleman , yes it doesn't say in the advert that it is a Cdr but it also does not say it is a factory produced cd either, so you can't accuse him of false advertising. The advert says "This is an original and official Hot Music Holding BV release on Hot Sound Records HS 0602 cd" and as Ken states the sound quality is impeccable, so the only gripe really that I can see you have is that the cover is smudged. I'm sure if you could have handled the situation sensibly and asked for a replacement cover rather than leaving negative feedback on Ebay and slating Erik on here.

I'd also like to point out as well as the Best of Sisley Ferre & Best of Hotsound cds I bought from Erik, I also bought many Hot Tracks & Disconet from him on Ebay and always found him friendly and most helpful.

I'm with invisible man on this after having bought several CD-R copies of material in good faith. IF an item is CD-R it should be clearly stated by the seller, as it is patently obvious that CD-Rs are of inferior quality to pressed CDs when applying most of the criteria that can be applied to them and should therefore be sold at discounted prices.

I can understand that you could be miffed by the fact that you were unaware that you were buying a CD-R but it is hard to find original C.D.'s in perfect condition so If you are a serious fan of Miss Ferre than I suggest you should be greatful that Formula_Hot has made Sisley Ferre's material available. other forum members seem happy with the CD-R and I am now on the way to finding Formula_Hot for myself so that I too can get a copy

Quinny - The CDR that Hot Sound Records provided me is a higher grade CDR that is used by professional recording studios and has a longer shelf life than a store bought variety. One could also make back-up copies of the CDR using higher grade store bought brands. The sound on this CDR is better than a factory pressed one and approaches a "direct to disc" sound quality.
