Follow me if you can.
This past weekend in New York City, there was a two day concert in Central Park celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the show “Hair”

But visit this website ( IBDB: Internet Broadway Database)
http://www.ibdb.com/productionreplacements.asp?ID=3393
It lists the original Broadway cast/replacements of “Hair”.
How many disco and ‘70’s pop artists can you spot? Not to mention future actors.
And Donna Summer got her first big break doing “Hair” in Germany.
Needlefingers Trivia Note: Peter Link, who played Berger, has a few connections to pop music. And me.
1) Peter wrote a few shows and one (“Salvation”) had a song called If You Let Me Make Love To You Then Why Can’t I Touch You, made into a pop hit by Ronnie Dyson; another cast member of "Hair".
2) Peter’s first wife is Jenny Burton (One More Shot, Remember What You Like, Bad Habits, etc.)
Peter was the owner of a recording studio first known as Westrax and then Link Recording Studios. I started as an intern there and left an engineer. While I did most of my work with Peter’s projects, I did work for Jenny also.
Link Recording Studios is now smaller and privately run by Peter. But you can buy recent Jenny Burton CD’s here.

Jenny also appears on the “Africa Plumbridge” recording, as also does Angela Clemmons (Give Me Just A Little More Time).
You can visit Jenny’s My Space page at

Just look at all her friends. A lot of disco and dance people there.
I don’t blog about who I work with, but both Peter and Jenny are two very talented people.
Is Jenny Burton the same performer that earlier in the late 70s recorded as Jeanne Burton??
I believe it was an old friend that use to own a record shop who assured me she was the same person, so I included that info in my entries under Jeanne Burton, but now reading Jenny Burton page, they don't mention this early recording at all.
So I'm not sure now :icon_confused:

I never heard her mention these recordings. And I believe she would have listed them.
I don't know these records myself. Does it sound like her?
There is a seperate listing for Jeanne Burton at allmusic.com, but there is no info.
I'd always assumed that Jenny and Jeanne were one in the same person too.
Wasn't Melba Moore in " Hair " ?
Yes I remember checking on All music for the 'link' between this performers before.
I just listen/compared the vocals from "Am I losing you" with "bad habits" "Rock steady" "remember what you like" and it sure sounds like the same singer to me. I think the climactic vocal high pitch delivery are a give away. But then again , I may be wrong.
Here is a spliced/edited low quality mono portion, judge for yourself if this is Jenny Burton and let me know what you think.
Ps: I'm hosting this clip temporally and I will remove it later, as my available space is limited, but if the Moderators feel this violate the rules (am not sure) feel free to remove the link.
Thanks Mixmachine.
It does sound a little like her. Her birth year is listed as 1957 so that would make her 18 or 19 at the time of the recording. A voice would/could/does grow and mature in a few years span.
And recording techniques/studios would be different between the 76 recordings and her later work.
I always think of Jeanne as being short for Jeannine. Although it is sometimes just Jeanne.
And Jenny is short for Jennifer.
Next time I see her, I'll ask.
