I recently picked up a copy of the UK 12" on the Warner Bros. label from 1976. This is considered to be a real collectors piece and looking on popsike sells for megabucks on Ebay when it (rarely) appears. I paid no where near the going price & was surprised to find it. I bought it from a highly reputable source who no way would knowingly sell a copy. It is in absolute mint condition.
I noticed that there was an 8' 42" version of this tune - the 12" I have is the more standard 4' 10" version. Does anyone know if there are (or were) bootlegs/copies of this record printed or floating around? Equally if someone has a copy of the same record is it 4 minutes long or 8 minutes long?
As I said I didn't pay much for it at all - so I don't feel as though I would have been 'ripped off' if it turns out to be a copy. Just interested to know
Cheers
Russ

The version you are seeking is a U.K. 12" remix of Young Hearts Run Free issued in 1986. It was mixed by John Morales & Sergio Munzibai known as M & M and runs over 8 minutes. The Warner Brothers record number is W8680T. You can view a scanned copy of the disc on the website Discogs. The link is: Candi Staton - Young Hearts Run Free.
I have the U.K. 12" of "Young Hearts..." and the remixed version as well, IMO, stick with the original version. the remix has a very dated 80's sound to it.
There is also an American WB promo 12" of "Run To Me" that is extended, has a great instrumental break and pressed very loud, it's also available on this CD:
The Best of Candi Staton by Candi Staton (Audio CD - 1995)
Why they never did an extended version of "Young Hearts..." back in the day is beyond me.
