    Magazine Covers Showing 60's Discotheques

I find it interesting that while each picture centers on a girl , in both instances the scenes are more dominated by the guys ....

I guess both pics are taken in American Disco's but this thread makes me remember a line in the movie "54" where there's a discussion going on about Disco life and its decadence and 1 of the characters is saying: "It's great but it isn't as cool as London in the swinging sixties".

I wish they'd come up with instructional dvds that would demonstrate how to do the Frug and the Bossa Nova, properly. One can catch some of the moves from movies of that period but how can I be sure I'm doing it absolutely right, shoulder action and all, just by copying Jean Paul Belmondo? My eldery parents claim they have forgotten all about the steps but I know they are just embarrassed.

    Great covers Remicks :icon_biggrin:

I love the 'New madness at the Discotheque' headline on that 1966 one !

As for the music.. I was always disappointed with the music in most discotheque movie scenes. I don't remember it from the movie (long time since I saw it) but "Pompeii Club -Rich Mans Frug" from 'Sweet Charity' is great fun !

Wow, I wonder what type of music they were playing? Probably soul and 60's R&B. Kind of looks neanthedral compared to the disco's of the 70's and caveman like compared to today's night clubs.

Yeah, full of guys, and they're all focusing on the girl of course; but why so many guys? Kind of weird. Wonder if they didn't set it up this way. I know they didn't just come into a club and there were 1,000 guys to one girl.

The photo of the blonde with her spaghetti strap falling off was a pretty racy photo for the old Saturday Evening Post. Both photos look staged, even if they were shot in clubs. (Could the blonde be a young Hillary Clinton?)

I don't think it's Hillary; looks more like a drag queen or transvestite.
