Yeah right! I don't think so; the man is a closet disco lover.
I can't remember what album it was, but around the late 70's one of his songs could have easily made the disco charts; I can't remember the name of it but I think it was off of his "Lace and Whiskey" album.
By the way, I've always loved Alice Cooper because a lot of his music was theatrical based and produced, and it was just good, solid rock with a lace of theatrics and a taste of the disco influence of the 70's (i.e., orchestrations).
Check out his album "Welcome to My Nightmare" and you'll see what I am talking about and what a musical genius this man is.

That's because money talks! :)
That slap bass playing wasn't so bad. It wasn't necessarily something discoey. It sounded more like funk to me.
Disco Funk
I can't remember which VH1 special it was but Mr. Cooper amitted that he did like some Disco music. He said that during disco's hey-day it was common and cool for hard rockers to knock disco and say they hated it. :icon_rolleyes: However, he admitted that every time he was driving by himself and a Bee Gees song came on he would roll up his car window and blast the stereo. He credited the Bee Gees for being great songwriters. So Alice was just another one of those rockers caught up in the peer-presure of 70's disco haters. If he would have said otherwise he music may not have sold as much.
He could have said nothing.
So even though he liked disco he went around inciting others to hate it.
That makes him even more of an ass .:icon_razz:
The only reason we know he in particular was doing this crap is because someone filmed him doing so.
You multiply this jack off with all the other rock acts that were saying similar things at their concerts the Ted Nugents , the Bob Seegers, the Jimmy Buffets etc. etc. etc. and you have
Reason # 13 that disco had to die.

Strange but true...I sat next to Alice Cooper at a performance of....
[drumroll.......................................... ........................................]
Disney's Beauty & the Beast, of all things, at the Shubert Theatre in Century City a few years back!!!!:icon_eek::icon_lol:
He was wearing a suit, looked awfully haggard... but, on the good side, I hear he's a Republican and likes to golf!!!:icon_redface::icon_rolleyes:
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
ALICE COOPER HATES DISCO.
Fine... but when his carrear as a rebel rocker went downhill, he attempted at... guess!!!..... DISCO... with that crap synth-pop-disco-song CLONES.
Besides, even if they do, ROCKERS AREN'T ALLOWED TO ADMIT THEY LIKE DISCO.
Alice is like a wrestler.
When a wrestler is an arena he has to act as a rebel.
After the show is over, wrestlers are as kind as lambs.
We're all clones.
So is Alice.
- Marcus
There is an image ROCKERS have to keep and expose.
There is an attitude they have to show and impose.
It about angst and anger against society, gays, religion, middle-classes, etc... ROCKERS have to have sex with tons of groupies, curse, spit, vomit on the audience, smash everybody's teeth, be very rude and sarcastic to people, drug themselves, break as many hotel rooms as possible, worship the devil and be very mean!!!
ROCK is about image and attitude, not about musicality (God.. don't know if this word exists in english).
The ROCK ethos is childish and predictable. ROCK's original rebelious edge was engolfed by the stablishment long ago. Rock is about showbusiness... just as disco was. It is just a commercial product as dance or as pop is.... and, by the way,... even more profitable.
So Alice Cooper is angry with disco? Oh please Alice... don't make me laugh! Your atittude is so predictable.

I know the particular type of rockers you're talking about Paulo ...the ones that cater to that adolescent 15 year old boy mentality and the many (most) guys who never get themselves beyond it.... loud -brash- crude.
But to be fair "rock" encases a wide array of styles many that are above and beyond the screaming-over-basic-guitar-chords headbanger type .
Still I get the gist of your post and I want you to know I think you and I often think quite alike...:icon_biggrin:.:icon_mrgreen:.... .... I find myself often nodding in agreement with your thoughts !!:icon_cool:
Now
as for Alice Cooper, I could ALMOST be more forgiving of him if his theatrics were sincere . Folks like Bob Seger ..they REALLY hated disco ...and ...well that's their right. Its their loss. ( I happen to like Bob Seger AND disco ....and one of my first albums ever ?? Alice Cooper's KILLER )
But to actually like something while at the same time intentionally going out and inciting hostilities from others against it ....I find that to be nothing short of abhorrent .:icon_evil:
Didn't we just dump a Senator from Idaho for being like that !!!:icon_mrgreen:![]()
NOW .... if anyone would like to see Alice Cooper get really slammed in the face by a pie ...... just suffer through this brief skit. Its worth it.
He gets it good.
he really looks like he doesn't see it coming ......:icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

Not just adolescents. There are some grown ups too. Old indeed with the same behaviour.
:icon_smile:I can accept The Beatles, Dave Clark Five and The Hollies from the 60s. King Crimson, Yes and Genesis from the 70s. Prefab Sprout, The Smiths and Morrissey from the 80s.
His theatrics are part of his live show. Part of his presentation. It's just rock'n'roll showbizz. Predictably, he had to express his distate for disco publicly and incite his rock audience.
:icon_smile:Running the risk of sounding incoherent with my previous post, I have to say that as a teenager (1973 and 1974 when I was 13 and 14), just like you, my first albums were:
:icon_eek:BILLION DOLLAR BABIES - Alice Cooper
:icon_eek:MUSCLE OF LOVE - Alice Cooper
:icon_eek:HOUSES OF THE HOLY - Led Zep
At the time I like them all.
I don't listen to them anymore, but I like songs like HELLO HOORAY and NO MORE MISTER NICE GUY (from Billion Dollar Babies) and HARD HARTED ALICE and the whole LP Muscle Of Love. I didn't have, but I knew the albums School's Out and Killer (remember DEAD BABIES?).
:icon_smile:I am not a radical person at all. But I have seen so much verbal agression coming from the rock'n'roll arena, that I reserve myself the right of shouting back ROCK SUCKS (even if some of it is good). And this forum is the perfect place to do it.
Take care Remicks and thanks for the feedback.
Well, I find this topic is giving the Rockas too much attention. Remember they were the real men and not girliemen like us!
I remember that the discussions with the real men BITD always came to 1 conclusion: "Yeah man, we produce a lot of decibels" where I replied "So do our trucks and I don't call that music either".
Alice, Ted Nugent, those were the medieval equivalent of cRap music. Their fascination with trolls, elfs, monsters and demons was put on hold by Spinal Tap. A lot of the Rockas from my schooldays wear three-piece suits and go to Celine Dion concerts now where I am wearing black leather pants and never denounced my genuine love for Disco.
And the apocalypse of the Rockas really was the moment I saw a recent Doc on Metallica where the awesome dudes, the macho men, the beasts of Rock had to consult a shrink for every note they wrote and played in the studio. Wheep "Doc I'm feeling confused", "Doc, can we hug each other or is it too soon?", "Doc, if I play that line it's like losing my manhood", "Doc, do you think the fans will notice the deep spiritual meaning of the fact that I'm wearing self knitted socks?"
Rooooooaahhh, HEY, let's call the new album "St Anger" coz we are rough and mad!:icon_lol:
And justice for all :icon_mrgreen:
Axl Rose? Hahahahaha! LOL
ROCK SUCKS
All the Cominsky Park morons, they were a bunch of sheeps and losers :icon_twisted:
What did we get in return: Spandex trousers, weird hairdooz, guys singing like their balls were caught in a firm grip (but they were ridiculising the Bee Gees remember!), the Vomiting Crüe, sorry Motley Crüe. Twisted Sister, yeaaaaoah dude, cool, Rock on! :icon_eek:
And then years later, they suddenly come out of the closet and give you this :icon_eek:
And the Rock press endorsed it :icon_exclaim:
Yeah, Saturday Night is alright for fighting :icon_twisted:
"What the hell am I doing on a Disco board?" 'I hate that music!"
"Who opened this damn topic here?" "Remicks :icon_question:" "I'll Remicks him :icon_evil:
"
"What's next?" "He's gonna try to proof that I am the original Discoman?"
"He's hearing something in my songs even I don't hear?" "If he doesn't stop, I'll smash his car with my designer golf club" "Now, I'm depressed, DEPRESSED I tell ya!"

Let's give "ALICE" a break ..... even if "ALICE" did appreciate disco music .... "ALICE" didn't dare run the risk of alienating his straight and narrow rock n roller fan base ... right????
