There have also been serious discussions between Apple and Mercedes Benz about jointly creating an in-dash navigation and entertainment system in future E and S class cars. It seems as if many car manufacturers are not able to come up with an easy to use interface hence Apple's assistance.

There have been a few people who have actually installed Mac Minis in their car with screen and keyboard! This allows them to manage music, videos and install nav programs all in one small box.

Still don't understand why they haven't made an in-dash car stereo with a tray or slide-out carrier to place ones iPod into. Right now most people have to use all kinds of RF or cassette adaptors or special head units, like the Alpine, with an umbilical cord to the glove box to hook up an iPod. At least the latter integrates things somewhat and makes for a clean appearance.
