I didnt have the pleasure to meet this talented lady although my friend Taana Gardner was very close to Karen and said Karen was always a Hoot and a KiKi..
"Translated for the gay lingo challenged"
means she was the life of the party..
Plus Karen had Polio and maybe thats why she wasnt as steady on her feet..But the lady could SANG~!!

I saw her live, being interviewed and performing for a Dutch television show where I went to see some real Disco artists. I clearly remember her because it was 1 BIG hit over here. She was ultimately funny, enthusiastic and very down to earth. She was a great person!

Wow she really does sound like the record doesn't she?! How fab. 'Hot Shot' always reminds of going to disco dance classes (:icon_redface:) when I was 15 on a Saturday afternoon & Hot Shot along with Cissy Houston's 'It Doesnt Only Happen At Night' were always my 2 favourite tracks & went home very upset if they weren't played! (drama queen!:icon_mrgreen:)

Sorry everyone to drag this thread down, but I just watched Dayna's youtube link to the Karen Young performance of 'Hot Shot'. I see a comment by some fucking idiot 'Phantom Crusades'. 'Why is a white woman singing black music'? I can't believe people like this are still alive. I wish this wanker lived next door to me, He'd have our music coming out of every orifice. Tosser. Sorry everyone but that really gets up my fuckin' nose.
