I didn't get a photo with the post there......

Jussik, I think you have some explaining to do here!!!

That was hysterical you had me in stitches:icon_lol:
Found this one.. not as funny but entertaining all the same:icon_smile:
YouTube - Finnish Disco Dancing Mash-Up
Hmmm... I'll be right over..... lol...
Actually, caught this thread as I was listening to Den Harrow on Finnish station Radio KLF .... Some good radio over there. Often listen to this one despite the odd 'dodgy' tune.
strange post but some of that stuff above made me laugh. Learn how to disco dance with Cassius :icon_mrgreen:
Bogart Co - All the best girls, I like this one, but it's more of an 80's funky dance
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGP1xtVQHwM
Never heard that Bogart track and it's not bad at all.
BTW, is there some good Finnish Disco we missed? Tracks that were pretty Ok but didn't cross over?
YouTube - Tinni - LENTOON
This is kind of okay(ish), by the guys who recently worked with Warren Schatz with that orchestral thing staged in Tallinn Estonia that Bernie posted a clip of.
The best Finnish 70's disco track is "Auringonmaa" by Anneli Pasanen, no Youtube clip available yet. This borrows from Santa Esmeralda and Bimbo Jet, with a pouding rhythm and snappy handclaps.
Satu Pentikäinen - Soi Soi
YouTube - Satu Pentikäinen - Soi, Soi
is this a cover song or original? Awesome tune with strings and all
Ota tai jätä
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSK7Sp1l2Xw
and some others from her from 80's
YouTube - Satu Pentikäinen - Ei huolet paina
YouTube - Satu Pentikäinen - Haluun vapauteen
Soi, Soi is a cover of a German schlager tune called Don't Stop The Music from 1979. The rest are originals from Le Baron, a Finnish jazz musican who tried his hand at disco during the 70's and moved on Modern Talking-style low tempo hi-nrg during the early 80's. I interviewed him a while back and he complained that he just wasn't able to get the feel he wanted for the productions....
Jussik, here is a 1983 song that's labeled by discogs as "Disco Schlager"
Sonja Lumme - Ratsasta Luoksein
YouTube - Sonja Lumme - RATSASTA LUOKSEIN
or there is her Eurovision song Eläköön elämä
is this the type of Finnish Schlager you were talking about in the ABBA thread? To me it sounds not much different than some of Kim Wilde's or even Frida's 80's solo work, with a more Scandianvian touch
another one I came across on youtube is Eini - Tyydytys, also an 80's schlager song from Finland with over the top vocal melody
a thread some Finnish people are probably trying to forget....sorry heh heh heh
here is more pseudo-Disco Scandinavian way, a pretty catchy tune. And those sure look like mom-jeans

Meiju Suvas and "Olet Paha/You're Evil"...truth obliges me to confess I went out with her some time before she started doing Stuff Like That. The girl used to be a dj back in the day and she was quite a dancer as well.
As for Finnish disco, there's something people here should remember:

Damn I accidentally posted a wrong video, that's not a disco track of course! Here's the right one called VOODOO quite a cult item right now, your for a mere 200€ or something at Discoqs etc. - I still don't know how to get a vid embedded right...

Hey, I purchased the other day her 2CD set 'Juhlalevy Pure Mua' ---the Finnish titles in which I don't understand at all--- on the spur of the moment at eBay, and it has reached me. Not bad, as the tunes remind me of Japanese Kayou-kyoku (popular musc)... are they typical European shlarger tunes?? In particular ''Oot Paha'' and ''Ota Kii'' (probably the remake of Mordern Talking's ''You're My Heart, You're My Soul'') are nice to listen to. Anyway, my wife, a 5-year Fnnish learner, and I both took a fancy to them.![]()
Yes, Mr Kick, these are fairly typical and timeless examples of what people here dance to especially this time of the year, the time before Christmas, the time of Office Parties! Drunkeness, unwanted pregnancies, karaoke everywhere, stale beer, etc. - I have been avoiding the subject of music whenever I bump into Meiju but this I got to tell her the next time. I don't see her too often though, not because she's very short even on her ten inch louboutins, but because she hangs out where they got like plastic palm trees and such.
