what do you think of Wounded Bird Records' policy

of not accepting any orders from the residents of the state of New York? This policy seems strange and arbitrary to me, and I emailed to ask why. Their response was "tax problems". I assume they're trying to punish New York's government, then, but this sure seems like cutting off one's nose to spite one's face. Of course, New York residents could simply have their friends who live in other states make the purchase for them, but I've never heard of such an extreme policy. It would seem very bad for business.....

Some private sellers on Amazon do this because Amazon does not have a way for them to collect the tax if the seller and buyer are in same state. I know Collectables/Nina's Discount Oldies will charge you PA tax if you reside there and have your purchases shipped there. If they sold on Amazon, they would have no way to collect the 6% sales tax.
