    Disco era ballads.

    Hi.

As someone whose exposure to Disco is mostly through compilations which focus on dance tracks. I was wondering if the albums released BITD would include some ballads along with the dance stuff?

One Disco era ballad I know of and am particularly fond of is "Re-united" by "Peaches and Herb". Are there other ballads by Disco artists worth tracking down?

    Cheers,
    Tim Tam

To answer your question Tim, yes many of the bands did include ballads on their albums along with the traditional uptempo disco tracks.

Here is my list, to name a few.

You Are My Starship - Norman Connors
    Valentine Love - Micheal Henderson
A Love of Your Own - Average White Band
We Both Deserve Each Other's Love - LTD
    Love Ballad - LTD
    This Must Be Heaven- Brainstorm
Turn Off The Lights - Teddy Pendergrass
    Find them and destroy them!

    Thanks everybody for the recommendations.

While I know some of them, most are new to me so there is plenty of new music to discover.

I will print out the thread and then go searching for these tracks.

    Thanks again,

    Re: Disco era ballads.

So many great disco era ballads... The most obvious are maybe Donna Summer's--early on she would get at least one ballad per album--Winter Melody was the only one that was made into a single, and when it utterly refused or failed to chart, that put a stop to that. But I also have a soft spot for Can't We Just Sit Down And Talk It Over (from 1977's I Remember Yesterday). By her great two double albums (77's Once Upon a Time and '79's Bad Girls) one whole side in both cases was devoted to ballad and mid-tempo tracks, in both cases the third of the fourth sides. A lot of critics at the time were kinda harsh on the ballads--particularly Bad Girls' but I think they're actually pretty gorgeous--All Through the Night and On My Honour in particular and on Time Sweet Romance and A Man Like You (plus the kinda half ballad half disco all crazy Moroder production that is Dance Into My Life).

You and I by Madleen Kane, which is kinda a ballad reprise of one of the major musical themes in the Forbidden Love Suite is also one of my absolute favourite even if she hardly has any voice (part of her admitted charm I suppose).

France Joli's second album Tonight (where she tried to show off her diversity a bit) also has some great underappreciated ballads--This Time is a fave of mine as well as the title track Tonight... (that's actually a very solid album hits and non hits combined)

For Me its "Save Me" off the Village People's Live and Sleazy album. This past summer while chilling backstage with the Village People I got to talk to Alex Briley who sings lead on the Balled Version he chuckled and said "Glad you like it man thats old now" lol. Goodtimes.I Love both versions but my Fav is the live version of them Performing it live in Japan. Alex does a solo and then the band comes out to finish the last chorus.
