Erm... What can I say really??????
At first I thought .... Uh Oh!!!!!!!!! This is gonna be dodgy..... But I persevered and listened to it...... It's grown on me somehow. It's as camp as hell. But I think that's what makes it cheerful and cheesy.
These guys are becoming massive over here!
Bearforce 1 is bringing back the Disco jams and definitely wants to be THE new Boysband/Mansband! They're Dutch and Gay and having a lot of FUNN!

At first I thought this is gonna be dodgy too but I persevered and listened to it - and I was right. Worse than dodgy, complete and utter garbage! I thought that Stars on 45 Jive Bunny crap was gone for good. Obviously not unfortunately - leaves me cold. :icon_sad:
BEARFORCE1 --- The first real 'bearband' of the world.
It's Dutch, just like the Stars On 45 production but it's not the same team as BITD. The famous blogger Perez Hilton is promoting them in a big way so it could be a hit! I don't know what to think about it really?!?
This thing led to three days of blog-rioting in bear circles over (a) whether it was crap or brilliant and (b) whether any of the guys are actually bears or not.
Wow...I'm not sure I've ever seen a bear wear a "hoodie"!:icon_eek:
Thom
Who cares whether it's crap or brilliant or whether they're genuine "bears" or not... IT'S FUN!!!
HOW COOL!!! They're gay and upfront, they're not the usual photo-genic twinks, and they're having a good time. And -- sorry! -- I think their medley is fun to listen to!
Okay, okay. Disclaimer here: I was predisposed to liking them based on their clever title.
But their, um... spirit... sincererity... FUN is what sold me. As well as their danceable mix.
Thank you for sharing this!!!
This is my story -- I ain't ashamed to tell it:
I was hungry, and tired, and looking for love...
all I can say is........Wow....
U have to admit,it's catchy as hell....
I wonder if Energy 92.7 in S.F. is playing this,cause if they're not,they should...

You got to bone it like you own it
I'm presently going through some rough old times with illness and this definitely cracked a smile...So it's alright by me. Now who shall we get to do the re-mix?
I like it too! It's so beautifully un-polished which just adds to the fun.
Interestingly enough, on another music forum, there were insults galore..."gawd awful" and "embarassing"....and my thought there is we're just not used to seeing imperfection....yet to these eyes, the honesty and sincerity is perfection.
Zef....for more smiles, I hope you don't miss reading Marky's Billboard thread. I've needed smiles this week as well and there's been plenty on there.![]()
I dont' liek to classify myself but I am a very hairy guy--and no one in that group seems to be even 1/4ter of what I am...
That said--I know it feels in poor taste to piss on a group that seems to be havign a lot of fun and no agenda but... I really think it's pretty awful. Bad production, lame vocals, bad use of medley and worst WHY CAN'T THEY EVEN DO THE FUCKING DANCE?? it's not a hard routine (I have been a dancer for a long time and it's very basic) yet it's basically something any person wanting ot be a pop star should be able to do in unison with 3 other people--and they can't.
So I guess I'm a bitter young queen--I don't even really find it fun :( (yet I do own a Fast Food Rockers CD so can hardly comment on quality)
They're lovely little movers aren't they?! The main thing I dislike are the pastel polo shirts :icon_confused:; other than that it did take me back to the Starsound sound from the summer of '81 when I was sweet 16 & never been kissed.:icon_rolleyes:![]()
...ya gotta beat the street......
I watched this with the sound off - hey I was at work - and based on first impressions it: a) looks pretty cheesy, b) the choreography stinks, c) the looks like it was part of amateur night at a local gay bar, and d) the video is pretty cheap looking/made. I'll have to have a listen with the sound on when I get home and make a propper and fair assessment.
CanadianBob, everything you said was accurate, and it will NOT change when you watch it with sound.
Still doesn't take away from my fondness for an openly gay group who's winning wide popularity with a catchy medley!
This is my story -- I ain't ashamed to tell it:

Well the funny thing was when watching the video I recalled watching a biography on the Osmonds and how Donny had said that their father use to make them rehearse for hours on end every day till they had the routine/song down perfect. To me this is something every performer should do if they want to be taken seriously - perfect your craft - rehearse rehearse rehearse till the routine/song is letter perfect. When I was in choir we use to be the same way. We rehearsed a song dozens of times until our performance was seemless.
I think this group is great! Nice to see an openly gay group! Now as for us here in the U.S. where can we buy this cd. I really don't like downloading...
I HATE downloading music too...
...As for the group... Forgive me those of you who liked it, but if all disco/dance music was reduced to things like Bearforce One, I would be the first one to join the ROCK LEGION that shouts out loud: DISCO SUCKS!
In my understanding of the much rejected label ''dance music'' there is a trend which should be viewed as 'serious' or 'good' disco music and it lies in the hands of RINDER AND LEWIS, CERRONE, TAVARES, CHERYL LYNN, GREG DIAMOND, CHIC, TRAMMPS, GINO SOCCIO, PATRICK ADAMS, BORIS MIDNEY, GAMBLE & HUFF, LOW RAWLS, VINCENT MONTANA, FIRST CHOICE, MFSB, ALEC CONSTANDINOS and others.
Plus: There are exceptional gay disco groups (although underrated) : The Pet Shop Boys, Soft Cell, Dead Or Alive, Erasure and others. What these bands write, IMHO should be praised all over the world.
Even in the pop-rock field there are great gay artists represented (right now) in the works of Morrissey (solo) or The Smiths.
But please.... forget about Bearforce One.
It's catching up:

Well I finally watched this with the sound on and....
While it was cool to hear a modern take on some classic songs, I think BF1 should give it a rest. They're terrible. As I said in an earlier post the video: a) looks pretty cheesy, b) the choreography stinks, c) video looks like it was part of amateur night at a local gay bar, d) the video is pretty cheap looking/made, and e) their lipsyncing is terrible and f) none of the guys in the group are actually singing. It looks fake. Its Milli Vannilli all over again.
I'm sorry to be so harsh on these guys cause I admire their desire to perform but they really do have a long way to go before they're pro's.
