Another good night @ Larry Holmes Ringside this past Friday. This time of year the people come out more with their families for some good food, good music and good spirits. I did my part in this whole atmosphere by supplying them with some great blasts from the past. I tried to play stuff that would keep the vibe uplifting and positive. :D Here are just some of the classics I spun this past Friday:
Grazing in the grass - The Friends of Distinction
I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus - The Jackson 5
Mighty high - The Mighty Clouds of Joy
Love is the message - MFSB (#2 on my top 25 list)
Take that to the bank - Shalamar
Let's lovedance tonight - Gary's Gang
Sun is here - Sun
Funk 'n' roll - Quasar
Kay-Gees Theme song - The Kay-Gees
Christmas rappin - Kurtis Blow
When I was keeping things light, here were some of the classics played:
Say Amen - Howard Hewett
I want to be home for Christmas - Marvin Gaye
Magic man - Robert Winters
Who has the time - Con Funk Shun
Spread love - Take 6
Hope these bring some X-mas cheer to some of you along with positive memories. As always I would love to hear any comments you have on these. Merry Christmas!![]()
Easy,
Sam "ALL JAM"
Hey Sammy!
A nice festive choice of music there I must say! Mixed up with some serious funk!
We all used to love that Kurtis Blow track - it always makes me feel Christmassy! Kinda puts me in the mood! And that Jackson 5 track as well! Nice one!
Liked the Xmas FUNK ATTACK! Qasar - very useful in our challenge that track was, I seem to remember! Sun - one of our favourites, Sammy, to be sure! I used to enjoy dancing to that one very much!
And Take That To The Bank was possibly Shalamar's best, IMHO? Still sounds good today, to my ears!
Not to sure about the slow jams this time. But I vaguely recall that Robert Winters track ...
:)
If it moves - funk it!!
