Ella Fitzgerald - Love Letters from Ella

I really think artists of the past need to be celebrated and honored often. I know it was Ella's 90th b-day that just passed so happy b-day ella. I am not going to lie and say that I have been the keenest about jazz music or Ella herself but I know she has had several releases lately and the pbs special was refreshing to see that many people honor her. Some friends of mine from umg go to jazz clubs and we speak how cool it would have been to have seen her live. Any way check the concord website if you are at all curious. thanks.

I listened to this album in a shop recently. Ella has the ability to reduce me to jelly but maybe I needed to hear more of this album because it left me thinking 'whats the point ?' I like to think the point is that it maybe it will introduce new people to fantastic music but I no longer believe that. The artists on the album undoubtedly are fans of Ella's work but I thought it was all missing one thing ...the magic of the greatest voice of the 20th century.
I did like Chaka's track tho.

Yes, Ella is great, but let me give you a second warning about cross posting because it seems that every day some promogirl/guy of UMG is opening a topic here on this release by Ella.

You can promote an album but then it goes in the "new releases" subforum.
